I'm hoping to run Mid Ohio via Super Hooligans in August. I'm horrible at figuring tracks out day of so... I see Mid-O does some TD/Schools prior... any interest in a New England expedition into the bland state as a group? I'm leaning towards the June 17th event? Track has been repaved for this year, I've no idea how their TD/School is run, so if anyone has experience / advice to pass on I'm all ears!

I ran on that track about 30 years ago. LOL. So can't comment on recent schools/TDs. Have fun, it was a fun track.
It is absolutely in the middle of nowhere though. So don't plan on a lot to do nearby

Awesome, plan B is doing the school the Monday before Moto A which would mean a week there with two days of down time... hrmm...
Well. There are things to do in Ohio for a week, but not near the track. Head up to Sandusky and go to Cedar Point. Or go out to Put-in-Bay and have some fun.
But actually, head to southeast Ohio and ride the triple nickel

My buddy Fraley that you met at COTA is from up there. If you need info I can put you two together.
Sadly bringing my whole race program with me means no room for a street legal bonus bike. I don't even have room for a scooter, which has proven to be a PITA. But I'm liking some of the potential good hiking options that might be a perfect way to just relax?
Only ran Mid-Ohio once it's a beast of a track. So much fun. Superfast track Surprisingly lots of elevation changes. Some close Armco in a few spots. Pavement was pretty good when I was there. Bring your balls and enjoy. My all-time favorite track.
Roughly... how much to race if someone had a Duke 790 and don't mind bending some of the design requirement rules?

790 doesn't take much to be legal, mostly just making sure key items are wired, you've got a belly pan with rain plug, a rear rain safety light (I just use my taillight), tank foam in the fuel tank and an attempt at engine case crash protection. There is a minimum weight you have to hit, but I don't think you'll be below it if you're not going with aftermarket wheels/etc.
Costs:
- AMA Membership that is valid through 2024, $50. Setup auto renewal and you get free roadside assistance for your family on anything, two wheels, four, RV, etc.
- AMA Professional License - See the forms here. $102, completing this gets you a license that works as your gate pass to any MotoAmerica event, and a matching parking pass, so if you like to watch racing too, you can do so from in the pits of any event.
- You'll need team shirts, requirements are here, for SuperHooligan only teams it's not a hard regulation, it's make an effort.
- SuperHooligan One Round Entry - $325
- Any helpers/crew are $100/ea per round
- Fuel, gotta run VP T4 or MGP-R, approx $100/5 gallon can
- Tires, must run Dunlops. You can buy slicks / rains from Dunlop at the event or source them yourself, SH isn't under a quota and we don't have to deal with inventory / serial number tracking, nearly anything goes as long as they are Dunlops.
There is also potentially the option to sign on to have lunches catered for you along with a breakfast buffet for $10 or so a day which I'll absolutely do after trying it at Daytona. There is a suggested $50/race (so for SH, $100/event) donation to the medical team as they are providing a ton of services on top of emergency care such as massage and other physiotherapy, etc should you desire.
Some venues allow camping on site, those costs vary by location. Otherwise, hotel/campground/van down by the river. Food, eating out vs bringing sandwiches, etc, your normal trip expenses.
Moto America has an age limit for the racer also, correct?
55 years old for most classes, though you can apply for an exception with a medical fitness report for most classes save for Superbike.
https://www.superhooligan.com/rulesreg has an overview along with reg instructions specific to SuperHooligan riders.

Not going to lie... I'm kind of tempted. I'm already an Ama member (as should all of you be) so I guess it would really just be the race license, entry, tires and gas.
Seems silly to do all that on a bike I've ridden once in the cold rain at loudon. Maybe I should do a couple trackdays on it first.

So, one thing to bear in mind, unlike last year where Roland Sands decreed that all who enter shall get a race, this year Moto America is strictly enforcing qualifying, and there isn't the American Aircooled Twins subclass to lower the bar either. Currently the qualifying time is 115% of the fastest lap full on factory Indian / HD machines set with literal world tier racers at the helm.
In my case, I know I'm outbiked and there is no question outskilled, but am willing to try and give it a go a couple more times. If not qualifying sounds like it'd ruin your weekend, this may not make for a good trip.
Seems like a lot of money and driving for a couple of practice and qualifying sessions.

Potentially, yeah. On the flip side I'm racing on tracks I might not have otherwise, and am doing so with literal world caliber racers who aren't holding back. At the moment it's still worth it to me, but it's not for everyone which is why I'm happy to share as much as I can so others can make informed decisions for themselves.
This is why sites like https://trackdays.fyi/ are awesome. Pick a spot on the map and you can see all the trackdays, especially for those long distance trips where you're not too familiar with the local orgs.
For example, if you want to go to Mid-Ohio on June 17.. you can also go to Pitt Race with N2 on June 14/15/16, and/or go to Nelson Ledges with FastTrax on June 15/16. You can visit 3 different tracks on 3 different days, in almost a straight shot if you're coming from New England.
That's good info and all, I just meant buying the ama license and paying $325 entry fee and buying tires and fuel I wouldn't normally run to essentially hand no chance even racing because of qualifying seems like a lot.
I'm driving 12 hrs to Vir tomorrow for the weekend to race supermoto, but know I'll be riding both days and have a strong chance of standing on the box.
