    NJMP Hotels

NJMP lists four "official" hotels in Vineland. I need to stay two nights May 10-11 for a California Superbike School course. But AAA seems to have a number of options that are pretty low-cost in Millville but it seems that area is dodgy.

Anything to choose between them? A room with a microwave would be helpful. Wingate seems the most-highly reviewed.

I've done the Holiday Inn Express a number of times. Did you check for a Suite right at the track? Those are nice and then you are right there on the fron straight

Dodgy? By that you mean ghetto. If you are track daying you should learn to love camping for just this reason. Put up a tent, pay for power and bring a coffee maker. I have stayed at the holiday inn but since that have camped and been way happier. Saves you that whole drive at the crack of dawn.

    Re: NJMP Hotels

a friend of mine from NJ who does a lot of track days down there says Vineland is the bad town and Millville is better. A lot of hourly rate hotels for prostitution in Vineland but I doubt the 4 in that link have hourly rates. I haven't stayed at the track but next time I go I'd like to. that's probably the way to go. fall out of bed onto your bike, turn the corner and you're ripping down pit out.

No idea about the area except that some of the online hotel reviews mention drug activity and other shenanigans.

Camping seems like a good idea. I could even just drive one of the vans down and sleep in that.

    Re: NJMP Hotels

Holiday Inn Express is my top choice (out of three, I think, hotels I've stayed at near NJMP...I do not recommend the Best Western I think - whatever is attached to a Denny's). But spending the extra coin on the Thunderbolt garage suites is worth it if you intend to hang out with people at the track after the day is done. If you're fine with camping or sleeping in the van/trailer, they have showers available in the T'bolt infield as well as in the Clubhouse.

Just stayed there over the last weekend. Nice and less than 10 minutes from the track. (hit up thew WaWas for decent coffee on the way to the track.)

Stayed in Vineland @ Speedway Inn. Great rates and enough room to put the bike inside with you. Def wouldn't leave it out side. Came out in the morn to see 5 state and local police doing a raid. Stay at the track if you can.

    Re: NJMP Hotels

I booked a place at the track. It's $80 for a hotel 10-20 minutes away in a dodgy area, versus $109. That $29 will be worth every penny in the morning. They are providing breakfast as part of the program.

I'll be riding a BMW S1000RR for two days. Apparently you start in rain mode and if you can deal with more power they let you change it. I will never use all the power, which some mags are saying is 185 at the rear wheel. And my "fast" bike is an SV650....

Wingate is nice and not to far. Stayed there last Sunday. Seemed safe and well lit. There were bikes parked outside at night also.

Google maps sends me right on down 95 through NYC. I assume to avoid rush hour I should be through there by 4pm latest?

Do NOT follow Google Maps, etc. Do this instead, take the Tappan Zee. It's slightly longer miles-wise, but you're running a huge risk of GWB traffic taking 95.

yep... that's the way I always go... very rare to hit traffic and the roads are in nice shape. (important when trailering)

I've been down there twice. first time I went down on a friday, HUUUUUUUUUUUGE mistake going that way.took an extra 3 hours just because of the stretch from 91 to the NJ border. Last summer I went down on a sunday and it was ok. Left the track Tuesday afternoon and expecting to hit a ton of traffic in NY I was informed by the nice trooper that I was doing 86mph. When I came through NY around 5:30-6 I think it was I couldn't believe that there was absolutely no traffic. so IME its hit or miss, ymmv.

    Re: NJMP Hotels

The VIP suites are definitely the best choice (unless you like camping), and I've stayed at the Holiday Inn Express a few times. It's nice to have am indoor pool/jacuzzi, it's clean, and the breakfast is ok (and free). No microwaves in the rooms but if you bring something down to the desk they'll nuke it for you.

First day - rain mode only - 150hp.
Second day - race mode - whole enchilada.
I chickened out on the straight at 130+ and guys were blowing past me at 20-30mph more.
