painting bodywork - what are my options

The track bike is likely to get bodywork over the winter. Sharkskinz upper, lower and tail. Track days only.

There seems to be three options for paint:
    1) no paint. Paint is just for esthetics, right? I can always paint it later and spread my cost.
    2) Do it yourself, which I know nothing about. This where I really need your $0.02.
    3) Get it done professionally. But once I crash, I'll wish I went with option #2, right?

Start tossing your $0.02 my way...

Landrics had a winter paint special last year. Check under the sponsor section of the forum and shoot them a PM.

Do it yourself. How are you gonna pitch it into t1 skating both tires with storebought paint? Thats like 2 seconds per lap right there.

If you have a small compressor, you can purchase a cheap spraygun for around $35 and shoot it yourself. Look for lower cost paint like a Nason. But keep in mind, the better it looks, the more you'll worry about throwing it down the road.

Well if you have resources and tools to paint the bike by you self then i suggest you the #2. Because its cheap, easy and a good way to clean the complete bike with detail. But you need some knowledge about painting the things. So you can try this at home with you favorite color.

Why risk it and spend money to do it twice if it doesnt come out right.. Like PK says... If you cant afford to do it right the first time.. How can you afford to do it again??
Hit me up with any questions you may have. I stand behind my work 100% ( my reviews should speak for themselves) and i can give you show quality for a pretty damn good price!

I did my Hawk for $300 with PBG 2k can. What would you charge for this job? $200 for both wheels PC.

Krylon Fusion doesn't require primer and is designed to stick and flex with plastic.

I didn't bother using making tape. All one color. And "yes"...new paint jobs tend to attract black top.

Re: painting bodywork - what are my options

Doing the k2 can is nice but the prep work has to be done right. Sand it all down then you have to use the right primer then the base and the final step is the clear (the 2k can) This is what makes it gas safe.

If landricscustoms can give us a base price for a full fairing bike one color that would be nice. (That would take the bullsh!t out of phone tag.) + OR - $200 for color. just a ball park would be nice.

Saving myself the prep and finish work (I HATE sanding, wetsanding, buffing, polishing, etc.) was well worth the $ I spent at Landrics.

I can spray paint just as well as anyone, but if you don't do the prep before, during, and after, then it isn't going to come out right.

What's the difference between a bolt and a screw?

Go to Landrics forum in the Sponsors section and he's offering a fall/winter special. 1 color plus number plates for $550 and 2 colors plus number plates for $675. Seems like a pretty killer deal to me for a professional paint job.

Re: painting bodywork - what are my options

my Fall Special Prices above are correct. And that is for a fully wet sanded and buffed showroom paint job. I stand by my work 100% and have 2, 3 inch thick books for color options ( both metallic and solid) you wont find on some shelf of cans.. as you would see in any of my reviews, I go far beyond the scope of payment vs work to provide every client of mine something that not only I am proud to claim as my own but something that they would recommend to any of their friends.
