    Penguin tomorrow...

Ok, so how's this for procrastinating...

It's 9:20pm and I'm just now deciding that I will do the Penguin day tomorrow.

Better start loading the bike and packing the gear...

Anyone else going to be there?

I would like to run the rookie race on Saturday.

Problem is, I haven't had the time to safety wire my bike and truth be told, I've never done it, so I don't think I'll be ready...

there is always some one safety wiring their bike Friday night, bring a drill and bunch o bits. come see me and you can borrow my pliers and wire - thats all I'm good for, never drilled a bolt myself but again there is always some one doing the same.

I'm usually around here somewhere set up in a huge trailer behind a green van. Do your rookie race and at least race #3, you'll love it.

    Thanks Mike...

Had a great day Friday... Consistently getting my knee down in T2, several times in T's 1 & 6!

I did meet up with Denno briefly and had planned on getting my bike safety wired to run the rookie race Saturday, but Mr. Kates discovered a blown fork seal while he was adjusting my suspension. I didn't think the bike would pass tech with the fork seal leaking, so I decided to wait.

Friday was my 10th track day this year, and I can say that I'm officially hooked...

As one of my goals is to try my hand at racing, I was pretty excited at the thought of going through the Penguin school. Needless to say, I was a bit disappointed with the basic program. We didn’t get as much track time (Or even a track walk) as I would have expected.

I learned more about the track, the proper line and even body positioning at TTD’s than I did at the Penguin basic class. Also, the track days I've attended (TTD's, LAPS, McAllister's) give you a LOT more track time...

The advanced Penguin class on the other hand was a completely different story! First thing in the morning we did a track walk which was extremely valuable. After the track walk, we had plenty of track time and easy access to the Penguin instructors.

The most important part of both days was the track time. I’ll take any opportunity I can to get track time!
