    * Penguin Women's TrackDay Recap *

    Hey All- The Penguin Women's Track Day went very well and was a great season closer for me. About half of the students in attendance had never been on the track before but they were in the best hands possible. Tons of Penguin and WRS control riders available to give one-on-one tutoring to those riders who needed it. A surprise rain shower dropped on us midday, but our last few sessions we had a dry track once again. This was my first track day 'instructing' and I think I got a lot out of it myself. I worked with a student named Mary Sue on a touring BMW and I was impressed with the improvements she made. She asked me to follow her in B group and then pit in and critique her line- just this simple exercise was so beneficial for me as well because it helped me regurgitate much of Eric's talking points on the track walk and even helped me put it into practice more. I got to rip around in the advance group and have made substantial improvement inmy body positioning, really itching for a race ready SV now.... Hope all the women who attended had a great day, big thanks to those who came to help out

    mm, there was me, a13x, Jtaylor719. Pretty sure there were not any female NESRian riders there....? Don't think femmekat made it out.

    Didn't see him riding, but PK was there. As was JohnnyB.

    I think I saw pps216 out there with a red jersey. Not sure who else was there that may be on this list.

    I'd have to say it ran pretty smoothly. Would like to hear some comments from the paying customers though.

    Track walk pics- unfortunately this was the only time I photographed all day. I'm sure the WRS site will have tons of media though.

    The trackwalk with Eric is absolutely jackpot.

    I had a great time Instructing during the Penguin Women's Trackday and have to give a big thanks to Mark @ Wagner for letting me ride Aprilia's SVX550 that he has. That bike has a great motor in it and way faster (motor-wise) than my 450 single. I'd REALLY REALLY like to have that motor in a proper roadrace chassis... Aprilia are you listening!

    Was a good group of ladies out there and plenty of riding. Heard a few of the ladies saying they were pooped out by 2pm!! By the time the 3:30-5pm sessions rolled around it was noticeably thinner out there on the track but still plenty of track-addicted girls ripping around. Pretty neat mix of motorcycle on the track, anything from full-dresser BMW's to Rebel 250's to race-ready GSXR's all with some eager to learn chicks at the controls.

    It was Jen's first time Instructing and that was pretty cool for me to see. I've been Instructing with Penguin since 2005 and it's always a thrill to work with Students and share the learning experience. Was awesome to watch Jen go through that and was bitching to see her and "Mary Sue" go out for some laps!

    Later in the day Jen and I were able to run a few sessions together and that was great. We had a trackday last Monday as well (her first on the SV) and we've been utilizing our CARDO Scala Rider II headsets on the track. Awesome! They make riding together/working on things together out on the track so much cooler. From pointing out lines, reference points, and body positioning tips to letting her know when faster riders are approaching and when it's time to switch positions it's just a wicked tool to use. We had them on again during the Penguin day and I must say I've been super impressed with Jen's strides forward on the track. She's never been afraid to lean the bike over (seen her racing her 1974 CB360 with skinny ass tires cranked way over!! <-- click for proof!) but she hasn't been much one to move around in the saddle (aka hang off / body position correctly) We worked on that these past two trackdays and wow(!!) what a quick learner! The last session of the day we were really cranking along out there and she was almost dragging pegs and almost knee in a few of the turns, on her bone-stock SV with street tires! The fucking girl absolutely HAMMERS out of turn 6 as well. I was riding a SVX550 motard with race tires and she was out accelerating me out of the bowl and up into T7-8. Was frigging blowing my mind! Joel Taylor got behind us in that last session on his Hypermotard (unfortunately his GoPro didn't turn on and the footage didn't come out ) and the three of us were cruising along having a blast. Talked to Joel later and he said the pace was pretty solid so that's again.. awesome.

    At the very end of the session (fast group last session was pretty empty) Jeff Wood on a Monster 696, Ricky D on his race SV, and JayRoot on the Streetfighter came up behind us. I told Jen (over headset) "see ya babe, I'm going to go play with the boys" and the 4 of us went ripping off for a few laps. Was pretty fucking awesome way to close out the season. Riding side by side mid-corner messing with each other, grabbing bars, ripping close passes, and generally just having a ball. Watching Jeff on the stock 696 rip with Ricky and smoke the rear tire out of corners was badass! Was cool cause we were all being 'good boys' and even though the passing rules were Inside/Outside in the fast group we didn't want to spook the ladies with 4 dudes RIPPING past. Therefore if we did get behind someone we'd chill behind them goofing off (this is where the bar grabbing and kicking at each other came into play) and wait till the front straight where we'd all basically ride along the Pit Wall (yes that far left) and go by on the straight-away. Seemed to work pretty well

    Thanks to everyone that made it out and made it a successful event. Can't wait till next year!

    Sounds like you had a great time!

    Unfortunately I had something else scheduled for that day so I couldn't make it. I will definitely plan on going next year!

    I like goons on a racetrack. Especially when they pass Manny into 1 while giving him the finger.

    Get some feedback from paying customers if you care.....you may be surprised to hear what they have to say.

    Also, probably not great to post that instructors are ripping hot laps, grabbing at bars and kicking at each other during sessions. Can't imagine that info is good for promoting this type of a day.
