What are people using for pressure gauges?

For the past few years doing track days I've been using a stick style air pressure gauge at the track. Sometimes it's a PIA to use and I'm not 100% sure how accurate it is. I want to get a good quality one for track use, but I'm not sure what to buy.
What gauges do you guys use? Where did you buy them (links would be great)?

    Thanks!

Motion Pro. Honestly anything reliable. And of course compare it to two others as soon as you get it

I bought the $20 Joe's racing gauge from Amazon with the swivel head. I liked it, until it fell from my seat and now it reads ~2.5 psi high. Not very durable.

Digital motion pro. By far the best one I've tried.

Basic 60psi AccuGage with a rubber bootie. No idea how accurate it is, but it's consistent which is all I care about.

Re: What are people using for pressure gauges?

I've had really good luck with the Quick Car brand of pressure gauges. Reasonably durable and to my knowledge accurate.

Products - Tire Gauges - Quickcar Racing Products

The 0-60 gauges work well for RR and off road applications. If you were to purchase two the 0-40 or 0-20 would be better suited to the off road and the 0-60 or the 0-40 would be good for RR. Only issue being that you don't want to over pressure the gauge so you'd have to be careful after seating the beads to not accidentally over pressure the gauge. The smaller the range of the gauge supposedly the more accurate of a reading you will get.

Right. A man with 1 pressure gauge knows exactly how much air pressure is in his tires. A man with 2 pressure gauges (usually) has no idea .

Find the pressure you like, and with a consistent gauge it doesn't matter what the actual number is, as long as it's always the same.

I've gone through 3 or 4 liquid filled gauges. Including 1 longacre. The Longacre failed me in less than 2 race weekends. The others which are popular at the track and have worked well for MANY other people would not for the life of me work on my tires. I could never get a good seal around the stem valve. I'd always hear the air hissing out. I bought the digital motion pro and have been loving it. So far so good. Mind you I've only been using it for 2 track days and 1 race weekend but couldn't be more happy. Yes it was m'f'ing expensive.

As with anything, whats your budget.

You can go mild and get something cheap from amazon.

I started with a non branded one with the KTM logo on it.

You can get wild, look up a company called Intercomp, and fork over some cash for a super wamadyne one.

He sells the quickcar and he also sells an unbranded knock off. Both work. The knock off works just fine until you over-pressure it.

Typically your tire guy (Michelin, Dunlop, Bridgestone, Pirelli) can verify the accuracy of your gauge when you're at the track.

Yup... I've had my Liquid filled 0-60psi Quickcar gauge since 2010. 56-061-Gauge

Reason I got the 0-60 is because I THINK I read somewhere that your intended pressure setting should be around the 50% range of the gauge, kinda like torque wrenches... I may be wrong, though.

Re: What are people using for pressure gauges?

one thing i'll note, since a few of us all have the same one. you'll want to bleed the pressure before using. there's a rubber cap on the top, under the blue rubber. wedge your fingernail in there and look at the needle. it will move as hair temp & humidity changes. as long as the needle stays within that tolerance section, you're good. but make sure you're bleeding it.

note: for the liquid model only

I crack the rubber cap open a couple of times a day as air pressure/temp/humidity conditions change.

been using the Quickcar one for as long as I can remember. I had a problem with the hose, emailed them, and they sent me a new hose no questions asked.

Awesome, I was going to post this exact question today. Got a bunch of stick gauges and don't trust them.

What about air release? Anyone think there's enough air loss during checks to consider?
