    Re: New to Pirelli

    Hey, back on topic!!
Does anyone know if the stripe color down the middle of a new Pirelli has anything to do with compound? I have a green stripe, does this mean med/soft??

    Re: New to Pirelli

If I'm not mistaken, the stripes are for quality control with regards to the tread's runout and general roundness....but I'm not 100% on that.

Thanks. Just curious, because I was told I have a Green tire. Sticker says SC2 which is a Med/Soft?

A green "SC2" on the sidewall indicates a "soft" compound.

Yellow is medium, blue is supersoft.

    Re: New to Pirelli

I don't have any SC on the sidewall, but a tag stuck to the thread area that has the model number and SC2 on it...but, what had me thinking about the colored stripes denoting the compounds is that my tire has a yellow and green stripe around the circumference. Just thought that this is a way for a tech to tell the compund at a glance when the tires are stacked!!!

Like I said, not 100% on the designation of the stripes.

Check the entire circumference of both sidewalls for the "SC2", it's only on one side but I don't remember which.

    Thanks.
I guess I was getting confused with the med/soft!!! These are "single compound" tires? I thought they were dual compound- Med-middle, Soft-sides.
Now I see that the med/soft refers to not as Soft as Supersoft!!!
