The best portable Tool kit for trackdays/race weekends

I scored this in a Black Friday deal… ($225). The quality of the ratchets and tools overall is superb.

It’s going to be the base for my permanent track kit. Tired of packing and unpacking tools or not having stuff in the shop.

Well that sucks... Ordered from Home Depot online and it showed up at my front door with a big crack in it. Pretty sure that crack was a complimentary service from my local FedEx dbag dropping the thing onto my concrete walkway from about waist height as I was walking towards the door to meet him.

    Thanks, jackass.

Returned it in-store and they didn't have any in stock so I got a refund.

Too bad. Looked great. They're still on sale so I may just buy another one.

Kind of a slight ding to the potential durability of it shouldn’t fall off of a trailer or table while loaded…

Yeah, that's why I hesitate to buy another.

It's a funny mix of hefty and flimsy at the same time.

Looks like it was a perfect engineering of just the perfect minimal amount of plastic to make it reasonably priced instead of a premium pure hefty unit.

I'm still glad I have mine, haven't put it through the ringer yet. Even with it's imperfections compared to pricing of other cabinets and organizing equipment it's a bargain.

Yeah... no doubt it's good bang for the buck.

And what cracks me up is that the EXACT same unit, with a "DEWALT" sticker on the front, is 40 bucks more

I had one of these many years ago (15-20?) when I was a young electrical contractor. They are fine for light duty, not really weatherproof. It did not last long for me. To your point, drop it and you're gonna have a bad time.

I have *A LOT* of these, had them for many years. I have.....basically every tool anyone could want for home renovation so these have really helped me keep things organized. They are FAR better than that Stanley (Fischer Price) case you thankfully returned.

Not for nothing.....in that skinny top case you could definitely install one of those Pelican TrekPak divider systems I linked earlier.

Nice. I'll pull the trigger on that one then.

    Wow

For Stanley title reads the depth of 22in while for Dewalt title reads width of 16in

Yeah I think the measurements are just messed up... i'm 99% certain it's the same exact thing.

I think you misunderstand. They list the measurements accurately in the description, they just chose to put different things that they measure in the title. One is highlighting the depth dimension while the other is doing the width.

    They are indeed identical.

Edit: I'll consider getting a Ridgid myself for home use/storage of home tools. Seems almost like overkill for me for the track. Plus I like the split design of the Fatmax. Time will tell if it's actually sturdy enough.

That's too bad Pete. I've had mine for at least 8-10 years and countless track events (it's dedicated to my track/trailer). I've never had an issue with it but yeah: its no Pelican box. Those Ridgid pack-outs look like they could be a nice option.
