It's worth it. 4 hours for me.. I head up the night before and sleep the night.. ride the next day and then head home.. I'm considering leaving at 4am one of these days and ride, then sleep over and leave the next day.. if I was 10 years younger and single, I'd be there for the entire weekend
I think the one aspect that hasn't been considered regarding NYST is their commitment to their members. Guys buy year long memberships with the expectation of being able to ride there any weekend they want. If the track sells a weekend to a track day org, they're devaluing the memberships.
