    Off the rack leathers

I'm hoping to do some track days at Loudon this spring/summer and need some help figuring out what'll work for leathers. I'm 5'10" and a "comfort-sized/manly dude" of 200lbs/36" waist... (working on getting back down to 185/34 ). That seems to put me in a 46 for height and a 48/50? for my beef. Given that I don't have the time or $ for a custom suit at the moment, I'm trying to figure out the best compromise in an off-the-rack 1 pc suit that'll take a back protector. Any advise would be much appreciated.

Joe Rocket is a more "American cut".

I am about your size and fit into a 46 Joe Rocket.

My suggestion, Go to MotoMarket in Acton and try on some of his for free to determine what size you are.

I'm about your size too, closer to 210lbs, and a 46 Komodo fits like a glove.

    agreed

REV'IT, Alpinestar, and dianese are all euro cut, fantastic for me 5'10" @ 145# but to be honest anything that would fit your..um girth is going to be too tall and keep in mind if a suit is tight in the chest you still need to fit a back protector. My suggestion would be to try a 2 piece suit so if need be you could get a 46/48 jacket 44/46 pants and have the zipper tailored.

Vanson has a factory store Reev with used leathers. I bought my Mr. Staypuff suit for $400.

    Re: Off the rack leathers

I bought Weise off the rack. For me it was a perfect off the rack fit for relatively low $. FWIW, I am 6' 210 lb w/ 36" waist. YMMV.

I think Moto Market now deals Weise. I bought from a place in NW CT before MM dealt Weise.

(Search for Weise motorcycle Tornado. Comes in 1 or 2 pc.)

    Re: Off the rack leathers

I'm 5'10, 185. When I got my leathers I was 5'10, 205. They're 1 piece Vanson. I'm happy with the fit and THRILLED with the quality, they're from the late 80's or some such craziness, have been crashed a bazillion times (that's just short of a metric fuckton for those keeping score) and are still intact and in use.

I'll check the size on the way to the track when I have the gear (should be a couple/few hours) and post back.

Thanks for the input, looks like a road trip to Motomarket & Seacoast is the thing to do... that and cutting back on the pizza & donuts, damn.

The Vanson is a 46. I think it'd fit you based on your description. If you end up at the track this weekend you could try it on.

Agreed! My h ubby, reiobard on here, is also about 5'10" and a little heavier. He has a 2-piece Joe Rocket suit. The benefit of a 2-piece is that you can wear the leather on the street without having walk around in leather pants all day, or you can if you like leather.
