It's round and black. Think that covers it right?

On a serious note. The rubber balling at the back edge of the tread could be that your rebound is set too fast. I wouldn't over think it after only one track day.

Ha, I'm just thinking. I remember seeing some comments about track day tire wear in another forum some years ago. Figured maybe some of the experts here would have something to say..

I guess if it's normal and you can't really tell much from looking at a tire that's cool too!!

I think you should have gone out for more than one session! Welcome to the sickness. How's the right side look?

I don't know much about the tire. But, your wheel is very clean. Got any pics of you riding?

I don't see any problems... other than it not being a Pirelli!

    Everything is too clean.

You should go on a DucDave dirt road ride.

Post a photo of the tire straight on, so we can see how the profile looks. It it looks like the roof of a house (flatter on the edges, then a ridge, then another flat spot, then the top ot the tire looks pointed), that means that you get on the gas late in a corner. If the profile looks round, then you're getting on the gas soon enough.

Re: Read my tire (first track day)

Haha, I rode every session that day and was one of the last guys to pack up! It was an awesome day, but unfortunately it was the only one I did last year. The right side looked exactly the same.

I went for my state inspection about a week later and the guy said "it's not good to ride street tires on the track". Any validity to that? Most everything I've heard is that street tires such as the Pilot Powers are fine to use on the street after trackdays, but the race tires can only handle so many heat cycles?

I spent the day before cleaning the bike because it was a good opportunity to take some pictures with the mirrors, license plate, rear turn signals, etc. removed. Yea, I bought the pictures from the track photographer, which were awesome! I was very happy with the pictures, but my body position... not so much! I'll try posting a couple up..

I'll be happy to give a beginner's review of the Pirellis if you provide me a set ha! Just let me know soon because I'm getting ready to order a new rear for the upcoming riding season..

BTW, I hope to sign up for another track day this year. I'd like to try a track slightly less technical than NHMS (looks like you guys aren't planning any there this year anyway); something with some nice flowing turns would be nice..

Street tires are fine on the track until you get fast enough to out ride them.

Track tires on the street, I wouldn't recommend. You'll never get them warm enough to actually work.

Heat cycles is largely a non issue with modern tires.

Re: Read my tire (first track day)

Don't think I took any pics straight on, unfortunately. That one was just a quick shot because I thought it was cool to finally use some of the tire profile for once. I barely wear the side profiles on the streets I ride. I do quite a bit of highway commuting so the last 2 tires have flat spotted in a season (Dunlop Q2 and Michelin Pilot Power). This season, I'm planning to go with a sport touring tire like the Pilot Road 3.

I can't tell you whether the profile was "roof like" or rounded because the track day was like 4K miles ago, but I'll be sure to check out the pattern after my next track day.
