This would be Freaking awesome to get on the track....i have never been because it's like almost 3hrs to louden NH, and this would just be 1hr away.....should i start looking for a suit and boots...lol
I spoke to the powers at be at Thompson... It is the owners Grandson that wants to repave the roadcourse. the owner himself isnt too keen on it but its on the table being discussed.. repaving the roadcourse would mean new bleachers in the old locations etc.. a hefty bill so theyre all talking numbers right now. nothing is set in stone but they are talking about it which is much better than not talking about it...
If I remember right the old course was right around 2 miles long. The little bit I've read said they would probley move the most western part {of the track} away from the town road a bit, That would make it about the same lenght as loudon. I'm pretty sure they closed the road course in 78. I know I'd love to go back 35 yrs later. And a 1/2 hr from home: perfect !
any current news on this project would be awesome....Thanks guys

i was there around thanksgiving (gf's family lives a few miles away) and all the gates were up. so it was hard to see the track. Smutty lives by
Theres rumor from the car guys that the oval will be leaving.
Eliminating the oval would allow them to make a better road course. But they would be throwing out their existing customers?
I could take a look if you guys are really interested.
I'm interested in knowing if they will be running track days and so on - it would give me a significant amount if lead time to get a bike and get set up, since this track is much closer to me than any of the other ones in the north east!
MANAGEMENT CHANGES MADE AT THOMPSON
THOMPSON, CT. After 21 years of exemplary service, Ben Dodge Jr has left the Thompson International Speedway. Track management confirmed today that Dodge, a long-time leader in race track innovation, first worked at Thompson in the 1970s and returned in the late 1990s after nearly thirty years of running Riverside Park Speedway. During his tenure, Dodge led the track in a new direction and is credited with much of the success of the historic speedway during the last decade.
Dodge worked as a Special Advisor to track owner, Don Hoenig. In making today’s announcement, Hoenig said, “I personally want to thank Ben for his many years of dedicated service and for all of the positive contributions he made to this track. Ben and I have had a great working relationship for well over 30 years and I know that he will be missed by our staff, sponsors, competitors and the entire racing fraternity. I want to wish only the best for Ben in his future endeavors,” Hoenig concluded.
Jonathan Hoenig who is leading the next generation management at Thompson said.”We are looking to enhance and expand the facilities and over all motorsports operations here at Thompson Speedway. With these programs, we are all looking forward to many new changes, advancements in the operations and product offerings to the motorsports community.
Hoenig also said that the Thompson Speedway will be racing on a weekly basis in 2013 and that the complete schedule will be released in the next week to ten days. We will also be releasing our future plans for the expansion and operation of the facility in the very near future. The 2013 rules for racing competition are also just about ready for release
