    Storing a track bike

I just picked up a track only bike.
What are some tips you guys have for storing it so that I don't have to clean the carbs every time I do a track day? Also what about the battery?
    Thanks

For summer, I'm not doing another track day until the end of July (I think) and I don't want to have to tear it apart again right before.

Run the gas out and/or drain the float bowls for prolonged storage. Battery, as others have mentioned, keep on a tender.

Winter, all of the above and use a fuel stabilizer.

Would it make any difference between ethanol and non ethanol fuel?? There's a station near my work that has non ethanol premium.

go with the non-ethanol. that crap ruins fuel systems.

my suggestion is to sign up for more track days.

With the sv I've always stabilized the gas, ran it for a little while and made sure the tank was full to the top. Summer, winter it didn't make a difference and it starts like a champ.

I don't do anything to the Hawk except put it on a tender... but then again stabil couldn't hurt.

    Re: Storing a track bike

I think for a month or so the fuel will be okay, as will a fairly new lead-acid battery w/out disconnecting it or keeping it on a tender. In the summer, I regularly go between race weekends w/out doing anything but filling the tank. Over the winter my bike sat for over 5 months w/just stabil in the fuel, and the battery disconnected and it fired right up when it was time to go racing. Doesn't have carbs though.

    Re: Storing a track bike

I work on small engine carbs everyday and we run "Fuel Medics" in everything that comes into the shop, not only does it keep the fuel fresher longer but it also eats the water out of the fuel, it doesn't just separate it, it gets rid of it chemically.

Read up on it here.... http://fuelmedics.com

If you can get some of that non-ethanol stuff, use that for storage abso-friggin-lutely. Hell I'd run it all the time if it wasn't overpriced. Ethanol is the devil, period.
