STT - Monticello Labor Day - Who's Going?

best western and super 8 are sold out (according to the sites)
there really isnt much else to choose from in monticello. the lodge is waay too pricey so thats out.
im looking in surrounding towns now, middletown has a lot of hotels and its 30min max from the track and its an actual city (with brand name businesses - if thats what youre into).
ill let you know if i find something on the cheap.

Ok...sounds good. Looked at a bunch in Middletown too last night but everything seemed to be about $110 or so...which would be fine if a room share situation, but if its just Greg and I probably too much dough...

i found a days inn and a howard johnsons in liberty which is about 10 miles past the track. closer than middletown. and rates are a little lower too. got a room at HoJos for $85 p/nite + tax (you get a 15% discount for staying 2 nights at either hotel) days inn was $97 i think (with discount, if you try booking there select "best avail rate" and make sure there isnt a "prom code" in the box. for some reason it doesnt give you the $97 rate)
as for a room sare, the g/f and i have decided this is our mini vacation so no company. sorry guys.

FYI that dumpy looking italian restaurant in the ho jo's parking lot is supppper expensive. go down the hill at the light to the diner. decent food, ok price. look out for crazy drivers

wow, that place got horrible reviews on Google (if you disregard the spam reviews, which is any postive review) . i just want to reiterate, the bed was fine. i slept fine. I didn't see any bugs. good luck!
