Wirelessly posted (HTC EVO "DROID" )
Our trackday vendors typically do auctions for trackdays. Sometimes you can get them for under retail.

No, and if you drove it you'd see why. I'd guess most bikes would go airborne after cresting the hill onto the straight, there are some steel fences near the track, etc.
They did let a local BMW club do some "parade laps" last month.

The track in Thompson would have to be a road course at Thompson Speedway would be my guess. I hadn't heard anything of that nature. Interesting.

As I posted on born, I doubt it, but still hope for it.

Re: superBike tracks near Newport,RI
some CA track days are cheaper...this one at chuckwala is $140
http://trackdaz.com/ti/trackdaz/ord/basket.html
but most of the tracks are out in the desert...they're like 2-3 hours away...count that gas in CA is $4.59/gallon for regular right now, add another $100+ just to gas your way to the track
that's why I like the CNG out here in socal...still paying $1.91/gallon! it's a whopping $35 to go 300 miles
to the op - now NHMS doesn't look so bad, eh?
I still think dirt bikes are the cheaper, closer, and more fun way to go!!

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong. But I believe they used to run motorcycles at limerock. But, safety is a growing concern and I don't think they have the runoff or airbags to be considered safe for motorcycle riding anymore.
you shoulda watched the car races there the other day. or you can go on googlemaps and zoom in and take a looke, its pretty apparent that its not safe for motorcycles. no gravel traps anywhere (which makes no sense even for cars) and guard rail too close. its really stuff that's easily fixable though.

Not even if it was on my backyard i would go if they charge me 200-250 a day. I dont know, but probably in Cali they have alot cheaper then that lol...just saying! :)
It wasnt me saying that New england blows. I have a T-shirt from A&F saying that...:) But i cant agree more
I'm telling you, go up one day and watch. then you can make a better informed decision.

I guess you haven't done a track day with Jackie. I got a hug while she was wearing "yoga" pants (they were probably more like underarmour)

[QUOTE=Woodcraft;1226280]....couple thoughts...
There is a possible racetrack getting built in Thompson, CT in the next year- considerably closer to Loudon for you

yeah, details if possible as I could be at the track in ten minutes from my house!

Re: superBike tracks near Newport,RI
Many racetrack rumors floating around....I've been to a number of different sites in the past year.
NYST - Obviously this one is happening. Lots of potential. The progression to a facility with full infastructure will likely take at least 12 months. I rode the track and gave them suggestions for some small layout changes (that I think would make a big difference), ways to handle track entry & exit (which have not been addressed), and tree clearing / safety barriers.
Thompson, CT - There was a road course here in the 70's that they are looking into rekindling. I've been to the facility and offered input. Strong likelihood of this becoming a reality over the next year or so.
Lempster, NH - Approved road course ready to go, ownership group seeking funding to get things going. I've been to the facility and walked the course and offered input. They are halfway funded now, and the project is not crazy money - so I put it in the "more likely than not" category for the end of 2013.
Lempster and Thompson have been keeping things relatively quiet....which is a strategy I respect. No announcements until they are 100% sure that it's a reality. This is a refreshing change from some of the things I have seen in the past.
Loudon, NH - Possible updates to road course, expanding the present layout to 2.0 miles. My guess here is that this is a 50-50 chance. We could also be looking at a repave in the coming years.
Palmer, MA & Tamworth, NH - both projects look too expensive to be practical, and both have factors that may make it tough for bikes even if they do get built.
Lots of good stuff here on every front.

Re: superBike tracks near Newport,RI
It's not the military that killed my brain cells, for the record.
If you have the raw talent, there's a decent chance you could end up working for a td company.
It's well worth the investment in yourself IMO. Not to get preachy.

click on it and you'll see the existing pavement from the old road course. at a minimum it would need a repave and some run off work. but doesn't look like too much work really. and since it already exists it shouldn't have to clear so many legal hurdles.

superBike tracks near Newport,RI
I am there every week. At the golf course anyway. Looks quite a bit different in person than from google maps. But it is certainly doable with some reworking. Would love to see it happen

Re: superBike tracks near Newport,RI
If you insist on blasting around back roads, be careful, especially here in Newport. Too many tourists and fuck nuts around especially in the summer. I started going to the track this year and I am already hooked and drive slower than ever on back roads and enjoy it more. My 1000cc is nothing more than a commuter now, my track ready EsVeeSixFiddy is faster anyway.

There aren't any back roads on this island worth riding.
Gotta go into south county or out towards CT for the good stuff....and you learn more in 1 day on the track than you do in 1 season of back road riding.

Re: superBike tracks near Newport,RI
Did you guys notice the excavator ripping up the old straight with the dump truck full or material? That's a weird coincidence. All new pavement maybe? It's fun to guess what the configuration would be. Maybe onto the speedway and down pit road

But seriously CB, starting off your participation in a regional forum by telling everyone that the part of the country they live in sucks is probably not the very best way to make new friends. Trust me, I'm expert at not making new friends. And using the slogan on your A&F t-shirt as validation is probably not going to help here.
You may have noticed a mix of wise ass remarks like mine and good old fashioned honest advice from others trying to help you out. If you think you'll win a flame war with these folks, I strongly suggest reading a little thread about scratched rims. Relax, take a breath, and get to know NESR a bit. Before long you'll probably discover that it's a pretty cool group. Except me, I'm a dumbass.QUOTE]
