Nah he's been a member since Feb and I recall him having a few legit posts when he joined.

Closest to Newport is going to be Loudon in NH or Jersey.

Loudon is exactly 3 hours if you go 70ish. Then NJMP. Maybe that new one that is opening in NY. I'm in NPT as well and go as much as possible. Wouldn't mind splitting rides next year. Cheers

    Yep,
I had the Q about the CF wheels being mounted. I took them to www.razeemotorcycle.com/ and they did a superb job!
awesome place if someone has CF wheels.
In the other hand i had my billet PVM MC to be rebuild and they ask me "what is that" lol
so i shipped it to "Harris Performance" in UK

Actually I'd say your problem is that living in Newport blows. I live in New England and am 10 minutes from a track .

New York Safety Track is set to open next year. It's over 2 miles long and is looking to be something special. http://www.nysafetytrack.com/ Like others have said NHMS in Loudon, NH is what many here consider their home track. It takes me about 2.5 hours from New Beford, MA with no traffic. If you have never been there it's rough and tight and easy to fall in love with. NJ motorsports park has 2 tracks. I've never been there but i understand thunderbolt is fast sweeping turns.

You're looking at around 200-250 depending on the oragnization. That includes garage space in NH and a full day of riding.

Do you have a car with a hitch? I tow my bike with my Crown Vic. I get a trailer from Uhaul for $15/day and it works out great. The bike trailer with a bike on it is so light, that really any car will be able to tow.

    I wouldn't call NHMS a "Superbike Track"

OP, let me guess, since your profile doesn't have your age. 23? The R1 is your first bike? You're Newport's fastest?

Then again, you live in one of the finest competitive sailing environments in the WORLD. Sailboat racers trailer their boats from all over the country to sail there. Last time I checked, there aren't many places that have sailboat racing and motorcycle tracks in the same place: take your pick.

Next, we'll have someone from Stamford CT asking for the closest over 2,000 foot vertical ski area, someone from Presque Isle Maine asking for the nearest professional football team, and someone from VT looking for women that shave their legs. All will be SHOCKED, yes SHOCKED they will have to drive three - maybe even five - hours to accomplish their goal.

Trackdays for $220 per season, no problem! Every track in RI - hotel, meals, and hookers included.

I think if you gave it some more serious thought you will see that most find it is well worth the price. Most on NESR would agree. Riding at the track is NOTHING like hitting back roads. In fact many back road bruisers are quite humbled when they go to their first track day and are running mid pack in the novice group. Even (read 'especially') with the latest and greatest sportbikes. It's just not the same. If you are serious about your riding and looking to improve it the track is one of the few places where you can really start to feel what a bike behaves at its limits. I'm sure living in Newport riding an R1 and driving an Audi TT a mere $250 for a full day of fun is easy enough to afford.

it costs a lot to rent a racetrack. I've heard around $16k/day for NHMS. gotta divide that amongst the participants unless you can get some investors to subsidize it for us for absolutely no roi for them.

it really is worth going. at least go up to watch one day next year and see what its really about. watching a track day is free. many people have given up riding on the street and just stick to the track. The price of admission is worth it when you see there are no idiot car drivers, no debris on the pavement, no cops and you have an ambulance at the ready in case something does happen.

3 hrs to a track is literally nothing. I wish I am only 3 hrs away from Loudon.....

That, and if you plan on doing 6+ days with Tonys Track Days, buy a membership for $500. Then every day you go you get $100 off. So each track day costs $125 at that point. I got my membership for this past season and the return was amazing as I went to all 14 days.

Next year, Tonys will be using all 3 tracks.

No need to chew him up. You now know your option dude. Welcome and enjoy.
If you ever decide to invest the 3 hours and $250 plenty of us would welcome you at the track with open arms and help as much as we can!

I can't explain how important track days are to any person riding a sport bike. The degree of skill you'll learn and level of enjoyment is light years ahead of anything you'll get on back roads when you consider the hazards you will encounter on the streets, no matter where you ride. You'll never be able to understand your ability and your bike's potential until you're in a controlled environment like NHMS or NJMP, for our area. It's like a drug.

If you do one of the days that Razees does with tonys you can pay for Razees to truck it up there. $90 round trip and they take care of prepping and tech. Of course I could have bought a trailer by now but that's another story.

PS if you are sport riding in Newport you really need to get off the island and hit some twisty roads.
