    Suspension

Since I picked the wrong time of year to start shopping for a track bike, seems any bike set up with suspension is out of my price range. How important is upgraded suspension for a track day bike? Can a moderately fast guy have fun and no issues on stock suspension?

Short answer.... yes. I raced all last year on stock suspension. Had a blast.

^^ This the bike in question and rider weight are a big factor.

For you, Richie, any newer 600 will be very useable stock. An R6 is capable of 16s at loudon bone stock.

    Re: Suspension

The advice I was given was to buy a bike that already had some or all of the usual goodies installed. Given, I was looking at SV's, which probably need more help out of the box than most 600's, if that's what you're after. But the economics make a lot of sense; buying all the goodies 2nd hand, pre-installed was way cheaper than building my own. Way, way, way cheaper.

    Re: Suspension

Yes, I'm thinking a modern 600. People down here are asking like 8k for an 08 600 with suspension, and if it doesnt have suspension, things are going for about 5k. Major disconnect.

    Re: Suspension

Wow.... yeah, I'd say modern 600's have pretty good suspension out of the box. As long as it's fresh, I'd go that route.

Have Pete @GMD dial in the stock suspension for track use on any modern 600 and have a blast. That'll get you through a full year with zero issues. Upgrade over next winter if you so desire from all the racer parts that will come up for sale. Good luck!

    The goodies on the bike:

*Full ohlins suspension - set up by P1 for 165 lb rider
    *Ohlins steering damper
    *Yoshimura rearsets
    *Vortex levers
    *Vortex Clipons
    *Full M4 carbon fiber exhaust
    *Engine covers
    *Race bodywork painted black
*Fully safety wired to CMRA specs
*BS R10s with a couple of TDs left in them
    *New battery with tender
*Fresh oil and filter, plus fresh coolant (engine ice)

Currently in race trim, but could be converted back to street as it does have a clean/blue title (not on my name). I do not have any of the street bodywork, though.

I recently bought the bike from another member. He did mention the bike had a crash before he owned it. When installing the suspension, P1 did a review of the bike and found everything to be straight.

The bike handles really well, but I have a business opportunity and could use the money towards that.

I am only interested in partial trades for 08+ Ninja or CBR 250, Ninja 300 or Honda 500, plus cash on your side.

The pic is old, the bike looks the same minus the decals.

I also need a title, so prices are inflated a bit cause of that.

The second bike in that post has a title, and Ohlins goodies for 4k. Might be worth looking at.

Nevermind. I just clinked on the link for that one and it says it's sold...

Ah, my bad. There's plenty of proficient suspension knob twiddlers near Austin. Set sag and rebound then conquer COTA!

    Re: Suspension

Anyone gone through Argo or another salvage cycle dealer? Thinking of going that route since a dealer down here quoted me a crashed 08 R6 for 8 grand.
