Looks like he could be one of those guys that some might try a pass they think they have a chance at mid corner and push him a little wide. Im not saying Id want some payback but just maybe I entered the turn in a litte hot

??? Not sure what you mean there James. Can you elaborate??

Btw, that is Monticello South and the pit in lane starts way left about 600 feet before the turn out and is a very safe pit in if done right.

Re: Why all this talk about pit-in safety???

it just seems to show up. i remember my first few laps looking for the pit in. you come around an up hill right hander, and then the pit-in appears on the left.

not that i've seen many other tracks, but it just seemed like it's not in a good spot

You are supposed to signal pit in before the uphill right and get left of the cones for pit in (see 3rd clip in the youtube movie)

Youre right Degsy. On track is not the place to handle it. I probably wouldnt have said anything to the guy in the pit either. I would have taken the video to the trackday organizer and told him to either show the guy the proper way, get him off track, or give me my money back Im leaving.

Isnt the signal a basic thing taught at every track? Oreo laughed at me one day while he was corner working because I signaled before I came in. Combination of first practice and rain meant I was the only guy out there. I dont know I dont typically look behind me so tossing my arm up just felt natural even if I was the only one out there.

i'm just saying that NHMS, VIR-north and VIR-south have much more visible pit-in areas. the Monti-south course looks more like a blind corner & it may cause some unpredictable pits for the beginners.

I would contend that vir north is much more blind pit in than monti south

that was my take on the pit area at Monti-south when I rode it. didnt like the pit-in or that double apex

If you ask me i wouldnt say that guy is an asshole

I would say he is trying to prove a point by almost getting himself and others injured.

yeah on second thought, he's an asshole.

and i say that with the utmost respect for the bike he is riding.

no sense bringing the bike into this. its not its fault most assholes ride ducati's

With all respect, you didn't like the double-apex because it is highly technical and you're inexperienced.

On the pit in. Pause the vid at 13 seconds and you will see red cones begin to appear on the left side of track. They mark a 2' wide "path" that you should take to pit in. You should be signalling your intention to move left to take that path before the right hander with the white cones blocking off the straight up to the north course.

It's a relatively safe pit in despite the other riders passing you at 100mph plus on your right.

I think there could be a case for negligent manslaughter if that guy killed someone with that pit out.

That track Is pure Butter on a motard. The pit in is fine if you listen to directions at the safety meeting. Like any other track on the universe you have to decide in advance to Pit in.
