Who: anyone with a bike, a leather jacket, and leather pants

You do not need a race license or a race bike....ride your streetbike and see a lunch time stunt show!!

Includes a classroom session and follow the leader sessions before lunch. AFter the lunch provided by Nault's, there will be an open track to do what you wish!

Not to be a dick, but I did a Naults trackday and was NOT impressed. The instructors are there only to better their lap times. Sorry, but that was the experience myself, and others there, had.

Pretty sure teach is going to be one of the instructors. If you sign up go see him, I bet by the end of the day he'll have you dropping seconds off your laptimes. I'd like to do this but I don't think I'll be able to.

no offense taking...i can def see where you are coming from.

it is a little more laid back than some others i have been to, not any less safe though.

great day for those who just wanna get out and ride...and there are def some guys that will show you around!!

personally, i'm always willing to help anyone out with riding, whether stunting or racing, although its been a bit since i've been dragging parts around...just like riding a bike though isnt it!! lol

At least I can tell anyone thinking about this day that you will NOT go hungry. These folks put on a pretty good spread.

Hmm, this is a possibility, I'm antsy to get back on the track and not sure if I can wait till June.

Got any more information on how the day is run, what the schedule is like, tech, etc? So you run follow the leader sessions only up through lunchtime?

ya, follow the leader formally till lunch and then open track in varying groups after that....instructors are there to follow you, play individual follow the leader, whatever.

i can guarantee that i personally will be more than glad to play follow the leader or vice versa with anyone who asks at any time....

it is a good time, with a nice little stuntshow by yours trully during lunch---all the tricks including the never before thought possible ones using my handbrake!! lol

From what I hear this trackday is going to be empty as in single digit numbers as of a couple days ago!!! If any of you can get the time off work with the short notice I'd jump on it. If my bike is still in one piece after this weekend I'm going to try to go.

Dammit, I wish I had seen this thread before now. I need to check in more often. I was at Naults today and overheard a salesperson talking about a trackday. I should call in sick..........

I just arrived at home from this event.

Track days are a bit like sex.....even when they're bad, they're still pretty good.

The Naults people are all good, friendly folks, and there was definitely plenty of track time.

That will be the end of my praise for this event.

In reality, this was "Nault's Disorganized Clusterfuck at a racetrack". We started the day with some clear-as-mud instructions about how to do a follow the leader session. At some point, we were told never to make a "pit in" hand signal unless we were going to pit in. Except in the follow the leader session, when we were going to make it for "practice." Except that you aren't supposed to do that. Except when they so, only you're not supposed to. Except when.....(you get the idea).

Oh yes, and there is an A, B, and C group. Except when the management doesn't feel like dealing with C, at which point C doesn't exist.

Before lunch was all "follow the leader" sessions. The first two sessions basically went this way. The last two sessions were more of a "Do whatever the fuck you want so long as you dont pass anyone in a orange vest" session. (This was a difficult task at times, as one of the folks in the orange vest was practicing his wheelies down the front straight.)

After lunch, was open track time, which is always good. I ended up missing a session after a bike went down, the red flag was thrown while they cleaned up the track. When the track was re-opened, an announcement was made - "B Group, get ready to go on the track. A group, get ready to go on the track." What this actually means, to the properly educated, is "B Group, you can finish your session now." I am not properly educated.

Oh yes, and one of the instructors nearly hit me in T11. We met at the apex. He ended up in the grass.

Hmm...thats a lot more bitching than I had intended to do. I apologize. My point can be summarized as this - if you are offering a track day, some clear organization and some instruction go a long way.

I dont think I'll be doing any more Nault's Track Days.

I did see Teach on his bike, but I never did go talk to him. Wheelies are awesome, I am a big fan of stunters; but there is a time and place for all things, and the front straight at a track day in the beginner group of a "follow the leader" session is not the time or place for 100+MPH head shaking wheelies.

You can give my comments to them if you want, but I'd really rather you didn't; I dont really care to piss in anyone's Cheerios. They have been doing track days longer than I've owned a bike, and it obviously works for them; what I posted was just my opinion.

Wow man, good info, sorry you had such a bad experience but we appreciate the insight into the other track days out there. And I don't think you're pissing in anyone's cheerios, you don't strike me as a person who bitches about thing unecessarily, if you say it was disorganized and poorly run I've got to believe it was pretty poorly done to warrant your comments. I think some of your comments echo what bryan mentioned earlier in the thread, sounds like they haven't managed to get themselves any more organized since his day.

I guess we're a bit spoiled by tony's and degsy's trackdays, I know they put a lot of work into them, and it's good to hear about the other side of things sometimes so we can see how good we have it

The guys that run the Nault's track day seem to be nice enough people. However, they need to get their shit together for these events. The instructors in the follow-the-leader sessions shouldn't be jacking wheelies down the front straight, they should be slowing up and looking behind to see if the group is still together. Just because you race doesn't mean you'd make a good instructor. Hell, one track day (not a Nault's) I did had me blasting 110MPH down the front straight on the 1st FTL session, in the wet, to keep up with the 'instructor'. Then, that very same day, I had another 'instructor' almost come to a complete stop in front of me ON THE TRACK without signaling to help a fallen rider.

Sorry to hear about the lack of organization. The last Naults track day that I went to was not like that. The wheelies down the front straight during a session is definitely uncalled for. Hopefully, the next one will be much better........

LOL...I was looking for you there, but I realized I have no clue what you or your bike look like.

The front straight wheelies would have been fine in the expert group (or, had there been one, the intermediate group). I found it amusing; the line of three never-been-on-a-track-newbies in front of me who spiked their brakes and almost wore me and my bike for a backpack did not.

Again, I dont really want to piss on Nault's; if you are looking to fuck around on a race track, they're the guys to talk to. But if you actually want to learn how to ride better (and dont want to be mowed over by an instructor), Tony's or NE Track Riders are the events to attend.

I am truly amazed that an instructor did that. NHIS would have a fit if they knew that Naults instructors were doing that. Liability insurance would be void if they had to claim and it came out that instructors were stunting.

Just an FYI, the track listens in on the radios during trackdays, so if someone is seen stunting on one of tonys track days, not only does Tony know, but the track does too. They would think nothing of escorting you off the premises if they felt like it. No refund, no appeal.

well, i'm sorry you guys feel the way you do....some of your views are justified, others i feel are not. and just for the record, i can take criticism, constructive or otherwise

i'll address a few things i suppose (remember no offense taken):

the wheelies. most likely me, although i don't recall doing anything dangerous at all -although it is all in the eye of the beholder- the entire day, including the B group sessions. however, early in the day i did not lead any of the follow the leader group sessions because i was not needed, so if that was me riding around popping some wheelies, i apoligise. there IS a time and a place, and in my eyes it is easy to get excited about an open road and no police escort. it is probably more second nature than downshifting into a corner.

nhis, unlike many, many tracks around the country for some reason will not even hear about wheelies unless you are a somebody, in which case they avert their eyes. i ran into this problem when i used to race: yell at people for doing a wheelie down the back straight after a race and ignore the woods, etc doing the same thing IN races...not to say it is right, but nhis has an extremely narrow minded view of 'stunting', as do many motorcyclists.

unfortunately, i decided not to put on a halftime show bc i did not want to alter my bikes from track prep...i wish i would have to demonstrate some nice manipulation of a sportbike. btw: i was on the kawi 636 with the silver and black beatup bodywork.

as for the organization, i can agree here. definately could have used a bit more organizing as far as rider/instructor prep and communication. however, i thought the corner working was great and the ambulance didnt move all day. i saw very few sketchy moments and i was on the track most of the day. there was only a C session for a short period to acclimate some extremely green riders (not just green track riders, green riders period) to such simple things as staying off the rear brake, etc. i'll again admit there was some confusion.

instruction: i answered all questions that were asked. i volunteered help to a few people and played follow the leader with a couple guys for much of the day. there were about 35 people signed up for the trackday, and probably close to ten instructors. that is a pretty good ratio to me and their seemed plenty of opportunity to talk track and skills.

with sessions totaling around 15 bikes, there is often an opportunity to allow a little more freedom on the track as far as rules and passing goes. again, i thought the track day was very safe.

overall, i thought the day went great. we were safe and we had fun, sorry if you felt otherwise. bottom line, despite the gripes: from my experience we were safe, we had fun, there was ample opportunity for instruction, and there was ample track time.
