    More tire advice

First question, maybe a stupid one- If I want to run take-offs, how can I get them mounted at the track? Will any of the tire vendors mount tires they didn't sell? What about at TTDs?

My "street/track" bike is really becoming more of a track-only bike (only 400 street miles last year). I am, however, moving out of walking distance to work, and will want to be able to use the bike for an easy 5 mile highway commute. I am looking for opinions on my dry track/street tire choice. For combined track/street use, I'm thinking I could go as aggressive as race DOT take-offs or as conservative as staying with Q2s. I currently have 3 sets of wheels for this beast, so I could also potentially go dry track/rains/street, but it would be preferable to unload one set of wheels.

    Thoughts?

    Re: More tire advice

I've had "outside tires" mounted by at least 2 tire vendors at the track (one of which was MTAG who is generally at TTD) so there isn't a problem getting them mounted. It's also reasonably inexpensive (compared to most "shops").

I'm super unqualified to help with tire selection, but getting stuff mounted is easy enough.

If TTD's are your main track riding choice, then MTAG will be at all of them. MTAG sells Pirellis, so my recommendation if you have two sets of wheels are Trackday Pro Slicks and Rain tires. Gives you max grip in dry and wet - and you'll never want to sit in the garage regardless of weather.

However, you could also just leave the rains in the trailer - and your street tires on your spare rims. We'll throw the rains on if you need them for no charge.

If you buy from us, mounting and balancing is included with the tire cost.

If you bring outside tires, then $20/wheel will cover the fees.

Those trackday slicks look good but no 160 rear?

    Correct. Didn't realize you needed a 160.

Lots of the 160 guys run the Diablo Supercorsa! Lasts a long time on a 160 sized bike and will even have a bit more grip than the Trackday tire.
