    Tires for my supermoto

Looks like I'm finally doing another track day. As usual, cannot bring just one.. so the supermoto needs new tires. WR450F supermoto conversion on a 5" rear rim. I've cleared Pirelli supercorsas in 120 & 160 sizes just fine, as well as the Metzeler 115/165 SM slicks. Pretty sure I can just go with just about any 120/160 pair here. Do not need or want real race rubber as I'm done racing for the foreseeable future. Want a street/sport tire. Something that will warm up faster and maybe not be totally awful in the rain. Bike sees street action.

Leaning Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa. MTAG sells 'em. Talk me out of it..

    Maybe Diablo Rosso II (not-corsa)?

    Help me overthink this!

Rosso corsas are awesome. Used them on my R1 for track days and they held up in Black group. Fast to warm up and gripped great. Were also equally great on the street. Got about 3k out of them with track and street.

Pirelli MT60RSs I assume are great in rain, I ran the predecessor, the MTR60-Corsas in my SV in winter, they were great in rain and warmed up well on cold pavement and gripped pretty good on gravel as well they did however get pretty snotty on hot dry pavement

Gulp.. it's been a while.. I did zero in 2017. Not a one.

I always tell myself I don't screw around with tires and brakes; buy good rubber and good pads. Then my internal cheapskate jumps in the fray.

FYI, as far as I can see, the Pirelli Rosso Corsa is now priced lower than the Q3. I do recognize that the Q3 became very popular due to its price point.

    Re: Tires for my supermoto

After the price change it became one of the lowest priced option I was considering. The only options price lower were the obsolete choices like the Diablo Rosso II (as there is a III out now).

I'm not much of a fan of most of the dunlops I've tried anyway. So the Q3 wasn't really on my list anyway.

I bought the Corsas. Let's ride around in circles!

    Re: Tires for my supermoto

I have the Corsas on my SF848 and the Diablo Rosso II on my Monster and CRF250M. The latter are better in the rain and are more sporty than the typical sport touring tires like the Michelin Pilot Road. I like them best for the street. The corsas are excellent and more sporty, but have not tested them in the rain. The warm up fairly quickly. The tread pattern is a little more aggressive and sporty

    Re: Tires for my supermoto

I actually had/have a set of Diablo Rosso II (non-corsa) on my SV track/back-road toy. I have since decided I want the sticker tires on the SV. Last night I started rotating those tires off the SV onto to the WR SM wheels.

SV will get Diablo Rosso Corsas on one wheel set and race rains on another set.
WR will get Diablo Rosso II on one wheel set and I might have enough healthy race rubber left to shod my spare wheels.

MT60RS's look like they'd be a hot setup for the b-wheels. Maybe shinko 705's. .. Someday.
