    Tool Transport to Track

Looking for good suggestions for some type of organized way to transport tools to the track.

Anyone know of something lightweight, portable, well organized etc......??

I have found one of these...http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...7204000P?mv=rr works good at the track. If you broke anything needing more tools than this you're pretty F'd anyway.

    Yes !!

Get a large 5-6 drawer box from home depot, sears, etc..

Be sure said box has no wheels only two thin handles, preferably with no padding so when its filled to capacity, it will cause severe nerve damage to your hands when moving.

Fill said tool box with every conceivable tool you ever had in your possession. Be sure to include weird special tools like valve adjustment drivers and clutch basket holders for old race bikes you had twenty years ago. Because you never know right !! And don't worry, rusty tools show character!!

This step is critical...Convince your friends that you must always take said tool box because you know you'll need something from that box that only you have. Making sure at the same time to mock their completely adequate, though disorganized tool set.

Of course its a pre-requisite that said box must weight too much for one person to safely move, requiring the assistance of above mocked friend...

Wait a minute, wasn't that exactly what you are trying to avoid ???

    Re: Tool Transport to Track

I strap my rollaway into the trailer for emergencies and bring a small bag of assorted tools for any regular repairs.

Though not necessarily under the "lightweight" catagory, it fills the "portable" and "well organized" criteria quite well.

Get a Yamaha and leave your tools at home where they belong
Tools for tire changes and minor repairs can be carried in a small fanny bag type thing

If I ever see you wearing a "fanny bag type thing" you can expect a swift kick in the nads.

Looks nice but I already have 95% of the tools I need and a great tool box at home, but I need something convenient to put em in for the track season to transport them well organized.

these types of tool kits can be had cheap. The 95 piece set is on sale for $40 right now:

I do too, a fully stocked 6' tall roll away, BUT for the short amount of $ and the ease I leave it in my truck behind the seat all the time. That way if I ever lose a tool, it's easily replacable and not affecting my big set. You could leave it in your trailer and you'd never forget it.

Stanley makes a couple decent mobile toolboxes that aren't very expensive. Fat Max line i think...HD does stock a couple of them (incl. the one i linked). I own a couple, they are pretty much waterproof and fairly tough...won't rust. Linky

I'm missing something here. Why won't traditional ratcheting tie down straps secure Noel and Denno in the back of your trailer??

I think I'm just going to consolidate into one of my roll-cabinets and roll the whole thing into the trailer. It'd give me some bench space too... It's heavy, though, and if my trailer got stolen I'd be extrafucked.

just bring denno along...he's all the tool you'll ever need!

    OK...seriously....!

This is what I have. It's perfect. A little heavy but carries everything I need. Long enough for a Torque Wrench. Make sure you get the non-slip inserts too.

I also have this for parts...levers, rearsets, fasteners, etc. It has saved my ass a couple times.

These things are kinda cool (it's a traditional German mechanic's rolling toolbox from the 1950's) but I believe they're crazy expensive. Like rusty beat up used ones go for hundreds.

Yes it is, and they are still being produced.

Very popular with the VW bug crowd... used beat up ones will sell for 3-4 hundred.

Ouch, for that price I think I'm gonna keep on using the orange buckets from Home Depot.
