    Question track day prep Q's

I have been thinking about doing a track day lately and would like to be prepared for next season, I was wondering what you need as far as equipment and bike prep? Any info would be great, or a link to the place with the info on whats needed. Im interested in the bostonmoto track days. Also would pirelli diablo corsa dual compounds be good enuff or should i look for an all out race tire?Im ignorant to pretty much all things track related. Thank you.

I love my DC3 tires from BostonMoto.

This is off of Tony's site, but pretty much applies to all of the track day vendors.

Oh, and DCIII are a great choice for track days.

prepping a bike is very easy, most TD organizations have the specs right on their site. Its usually just making sure everything works properly while taping up lights, removing or folding back mirrors, etc.

As for gear, a newer helmet, full suit (either zipped together or 1pc), boots, gauntlet style gloves, and back protector and you're good to go.

Again, these are just general things... check the site or talk to someone who works for whatever org you plan on attending. Everyone is super friendly and helpful so don't feel bad about not knowing, we were all there at one point too

All organizations will obviously want your bike to be in proper working order... good tires, brakes, suspension, chain/sprockets, shift/brake linkages, etc. and all of your nuts & bolts snugged up. You will also need to tape over or remove all GLASS and either disable or THOROUGHLY tape over your tail light so that your brake lights do not show.

Some orgs require you to tape over all lights even if they're just plastic.

Some require a hose clamp on your spin-on type oil filter, with safety wired if necessary, so that it can not spin loose.

Others still require you to replace your antifreeze with racing approved coolant.

I don't know exactly what BostonMoto requires so you'd have to consult their website, but I think it's pretty similiar to Tony's Track Days. With TTD we don't require you to change your coolant or tape over your plastic lights, but we do require the hose clamp on the filter, tape/remove glass & all the other typical stuff.

It's pretty minimal, really. I can go from street trim to track day prepped in the matter of 5 minutes or less. I just remove my mirrors, disconnect my tail light and I'm done

You can find ALL of the bike AND rider prep information for Tony's Track Days in the links that Chuck posted above
