Tony's also offers classroom instruction, as does Bomo. I don't know about Fishtail, but I imagine they do, too. All track days can be considered a rider training course in some way or another (that's how our insurance sees them, anyway). Penguin (unless you are doing the Track Experience group) is more geared toward learning to race. Not a bad path if that is your ultimate goal, but don't assume the others don't offer any instruction.

You also have the benefit from a lot of these track day groups that these instructors also instruct MSF courses. They don't teach MSF at the track days but their wealth of knowledge and attention to detail sure is.

I dont think a license is nessesary usless you plan on racing or just wnat to be a way, way better rider. I just want to learn better technique, go faster and have some fun without getting
    1. tickets (have a few already)

    2. dogs running in front of me (have that one on video TWICE)

    3. cars switching lanes without seeing me (another vid)

    4. cars in my lane heading at me (deals gap every day)

    5. road conditions (nothing like locals putting a pile of dirt in the road in a tight turn to slow the bikers down, yes it's true! at WARwomen road in GA/SC line...)

    I just want NO distractions!

I have taken penguin and have done several track days. IMO penguin is much more focused on getting you prepped and ready to race (which is great). It includes such training such as learning flags, how to pit in and out on a hot track, etc. A track day focuses more on riding technique and can even offer such things as personal instruction.

Of course the penguin advanced racing school is a whole different animal which focuses entirely on technique related to racecraft.

    Exactly.
Penguin RACE SCHOOL is for prospective or current RACERS.
TRACK DAYS (which Penguin also offers) are for STREET riders who want to take their riding to the next level.

either take the Penguin Track Experience class (which I don't think you get your race license but I could be wrong) or do a track day with any of the track day providers mentioned and take their beginners course.

Yeah I completely agree. After totaling a bike due to an elderly driver falling asleep at the wheel of his car. I would rather ride on the track with no distractions.

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I am just going to get on the track a few times and see what happens.
