    track day recommendations

I imagine this has been asked before... track day recommendations?
I have done Penguin twice (though it was many years ago) and raced for a short time. I also did Keith Code/California Superbike... what a disappointment that was!
Simply looking to sharpen skills for road riding and enjoying the "controlled environment".
Given that my intentions are not to race, what do you think?
    Thanks!

Try 'em out again! Fuck, try 'em all out! We have a few here that sponsor the site, and they all offer outstanding programs. Keep your eyes on the TRACKDAY AUCTIONS area...

Having done a few with each of the offerings, Bostonmoto will continue to get my support. You'll find just as many loyalists to each of the providers around.

    Thanks for the feedback guys.
Thanks Stoneman... I had that idea about trying different ones. I guess I was inquiring if some programs are more geared for street riders versus racing.

I've done some Tony's days and I've done some BoMo days. Both are awesome, you won't regret either one.

Having never done a bomo day, I really enjoy tonys days and do feel like his are geared towards street riding. Great classroom info, well organized, and helpful cr's and instructors.

    Re: track day recommendations

They are all great organizations in their own ways (Tonys, Bomo, Fishtail, Penguin) ... but I would personally say Tony's takes the cake, especially for a street rider just looking for that good time in a controlled environment.

Done a few with bomo, great experience and they are really great people to hang out with. Plenty of track time and nice environment.
Haven't done any with Tony's yet but iv only heard good things and they seem very helpful people (at least towards me) trough the forum.

All the surviving trackday companies have survived for a reason. We're all good :-)

and really only Penguin would have any focus on racing. All the other providers focus on safety and street riding improvements

Penguin race school and race practices focus on racing. Their track days focus on safe track riding for street riders.

    Re: track day recommendations

I've done Boston Moto, Penguin, and LAPS.
From what others have said above, Tony's sounds like it focus more on street riding improvement.
Boston Moto tend to focus more on track riding improvement.

both areas can be applied to the other. it's just a matter of what interests you more.
you'll find staff and control riders of both track day providers on this forum. Feel free to ask questions.

    Re: track day recommendations

I've done BoMo, LAPS and TTD. all are good. as far as Tony's being more focused towards street riders, that wasn't my impression but I run in the Advanced group. we even had group discussions between sessions. I bet the novice group is just like BoMo or LAPS and focuses on taking street riders and teaching them better skills in a controlled environment.

as far as ones that run at NHMS I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. other tracks could be with less than stellar groups.

    Re: track day recommendations

All of the TD orgs will help you with whatever you want to work on, the onus is on you request that help. Many people go to track days and just show up, ride, and go home, never availing themselves of the various class time options or talking to instructors. Strike up a conversation with an instructor, discuss your goals, and you'll be floored how helpful they all are.

    Re: track day recommendations

Any track day I have done, the focus of the classroom inbetween sessions relate to the track you are at and discuss proper ways to ride on it. Doing trackdays and sitting in on the classroom of any organization will unlock alot of doorways into riding and answer alot of questions. All of this will make you intune with the machine you are riding and your street riding will become much more advanced as far as detail.
