    first trackday!!!

Went to my first ever trackday today at Jennings GP (http://www.jenningsgp.com/thetrack.htm) in northeastern Florida... it was freakin' hot! Had a ton of fun, was reminded of just how unnecessary a liter bike is, learned a lot, and upped my pucker factor margin Nearly high sided coming out of turn 8 (a left hand descending radius corner). Poor throttle control + amateur body positioning + a couple bumps in the track through the line I took = my rear tire stepping out to the right. I relaxed the throttle and the tire hooked up again then it snapped back in line and stood the bike straight up (luckily not all the way over to the other side), un-assed me from the bike for a second. I landed hunched over my tank and off the bike a little bit to the left, but kept the shiny side up and just got back into turn 9 after I checked my britches I decided to chill out a bit more the rest of the day after that and started focusing on smoother throttle inputs and body positioning. Definitely worth the experience and just glad lady luck has a crush on me All in all, it was an awesome time and I can't believe it has taken me this long to get to the track.

Start saving your money for tires and trackdays now, because it won't stop lol

Jennings turn 8 is the turn that it gets everyone since it tightens up in the middle. Definitely a 600 track though, I was on my GSXR600

This was me this past march there

yea, turn 8's my nemesis haha. I never ran wide off my line in 8, but my near high side was just too much throttle while still leaned over just after where it tightens up. oops, live and learn! Nice vid though!

It's so that if he happens to go down, the people hauling his bike knows it's GP .

lol actually it's my own reminder since my R1 (which I use on the street mainly) has normal shifting

Just switch the R1 over also. I hate riding anything with regular shift. If i still had a street bike it would surely be GP shift.

does GP shift take some time getting used to? or is it a fairly seemless transition from stock?

Its definitely more natural for me. I love GP shift. Quick to learn, quick to shift.

You Sir know nothing of true greatness. I of course refer to ones ability to steal, drink and generally do nothing, and carry it off with style

I did it the day before my first track day and only ran into one problem. I was braking hard on my 2nd session and was shifting up thinking i was downshifting. I took the corner in 6th gear . That's been it though it feels very natural. Up shifts are much faster and you never miss. Now when I ride a bike without gp shift it feels very weird.
