Trackday on a new bike

Tony recommends that if you get passed, give the rider who passed you a few turns to put some distance in front of you before repassing.

This is helpful for big bike / littler bike cohabitation at places like NHMS where a big bike can hold up a little bike through T12, only to have the big bike go plaid down the front straight only to get caught again in T1. It can cause some frustration..



At the same time, I don't blame the big bike guys. I'd go plaid if I could.

Tony's general rule is that if a rider passes you give them a few turns to see if they pull away. I.e. "No pass backs".

Differences in bikes and rider skills during a trackday can account for people being fast in different places.

Example: I'm on a liter bike and get passed by an SV going into a turn. Coming out of the turn I have more drive, so I pass the SV back. The SV passes me again on the brakes going into the next turn...

So, If I'm on the liter bike, don't pass back the SV. Give him some room and see if he pulls away from me after a couple turns. It just saves unnecessary trackday "battles" and "bottlenecks".
