Alright so I have a nice little old '97 FZR600 that I'm looking forward to taking to a track day this year. So here are my winter plans to prepare her for the track:
-Battlax BT-014 150/60/18 rear tire with a S20 Hypersport front (will different compounds cause trouble on the track?)
-Engine Ice coolant
-Safety wire coolant filler/drain, oil fill/drain, oil filter
-Safety wire exhaust just in case
-Clear wind screen
-Is it worth doing steel braided brake lines?
It has 350 miles on the chain and sprockets, so that should be all set. Everything else is in working order, but I'll go over the bike with a torque wrench just to make sure everything is straight.
As far as gear is concerned here's what I have:
-Joe Rocket 1pc suit, elbow pads, and shoulder pads. I need a back protector (a better one than I have), knee protectors, and knee pucks.
-HJG FG-17 helmet
-Cortech gauntlet leather gloves
-Vega full length boots
-Rear Stand
-Purchasing front head lift stand this spring
As you can see I did this on a budget. The helmet is brand new, everything else is lightly used but in excellent shape with no rips, tears or wear.
What else am I forgetting? I should probably bring one of those nice VP gas cans with the long spigot. I know everyone suggests water, snacks, and a chair to sit in. If anyone else can think of anything I need to buy over the winter that would be awesome! Otherwise I'm pretty excited to go to my first track day.
