transporting 2nd set of wheels

I'm thinking of getting a 2nd set of wheels for rain tires. Just curious to hear what people do, to secure the wheels during transportation, to avoid damage to the rotors.

I'd suggest buying a couple of moving blankets, wrap them up and as long as they aren't getting thrown around, that should protect them well!

if you have another set of tires put them between the wall and wheels. typically I'll just put them in the bed of my truck at the corners of the wheel well at angles where the rotors don't touch anything and strap them in so they don't move. usually wrap the strap around the wheel.

I can lay my rear rim on the floor rotor down and not damage the rim or rotor. No sprocket.
Front rim lays on top of it.

Rubber touches, metal doesn't.

Tires work well. If you don't have tires build a triangular or square frame out of dimensional lumber. If you don't have time for a frame just put some lumber between them, but be sure and strap everything securely so stuff doesn't move around.

j/k - I'd imagine a $25 wheel chock and a strap would keep it in place, no?

Strap them to the e-track on the trailer wall with tires between each set of wheels. I keep a few lengths of 2"x2" for the times where tires aren't available.

I like the way you think. Track days are just a distraction, at least that's what I say around the house. If/when I get a 2nd (wet) track bike, then I crossed the line to addiction.

I stand mine flat against the wall of my trailer - in line with each other so they don't take up much room.

The rear tire is no problem as the tire sticks out more than the rotor.

I mounted two small pieces of vertical wood for the front tire - so the rubber touches the wood pieces. They make the tire stick out just enough so the rotor doesn't touch the wall.

I mounted 3 eye hooks (one to the left, one in the middle, and one to the right). I use a heavy duty black rubber bungee going through the three holes and the tires stay solid. With only 2 hooks, the middle of the tires would want to 'pop out'.

I built a PVC tire rack (against the front wall of the trailer in the pic). It's expandable out to hold up to 4 or 5 wheels (depending on size) and I put two e-track fittings on the vertical tubes in the back, so regardless of how wide, it will clip to the trailer wall. If I need to, I can quick tie one or both tires to the outer tubes to keep them from banging around. Usually I'll put a towel or something over the rotor to keep them from getting scratched. Usually they line up perfect, with the front rotor next to the side of the rear where the sprocket would be so they sit rubber to rubber.

totally stealing this idea (with some minor mods) for my trailer. Been trying to come up with a cost effective way to secure all my spares for transport. Bungees against the etrack works but takes way longer to load than I really want to spend. This would be awesome though, toss em in and hit the road. With 2 or 3 (depending on whos bike I'm also bringing with me at the time) sets of spare wheels this would save me a ton of time and bungees
