TTD 6/15/2010

Thank you all staff at Tony's for a fun day with lots of good coaching. The weather was great and my red beginers group worked well. Can anyone tell me what happened in the blue group to get the ambulences going? Notice me not leaning off bike - I have been told

The second to last session was caused when a motard went down in T12 and the rider behind him had nowhere to go and basically rode over the downed rider. It was dumb luck, as the first rider fell directly into the path the second rider was traveling in. (Annalisa watched the whole thing, since she was snapping pictures from the outside of 12.)

From what I heard Wednesday, the rider who was hit sustained injuries to his pelvis, but I hadn't heard the severity of it.

The second session was my bad landing http://www.nestreetriders.com/forum/...my-season.html . There were apparently a few others in between. If that was your first track day I wouldn't be alarmed by the number of times the ambulance rolled. It was a rarity - expecially for a clear sunny day.

Yeah. I imagine that the new riders thought I was lying in the classroom when I said that the ambulance rarely ever rolls. The fact is that this is true. I can't actually remember when the ambulance had to transport to the hospital.

In the end, the ambulance had to transport 3 times, all from bad luck rather than any erratic behavior.

One thing many people don't realize is that TTD pays extra to have TWO ambulances available. In the last several years the second ambulance never rolls, so that it seems like a waste of money. But if we hadn't had the 2nd crew then the track would have been shut down for MUCH longer.

I hope the body position seminar in the garage helped fill some of the time.

It was good that the track was not shut down for a long time. Specially for us first timmers trying to get some track time. Good thing I didn't see the accidents it would have changed my working on a relaxing attitude. I can't shake the feeling of not seeing behind me in the rear view mirror. The scream of a liter bike passing close at 40-50mph faster is unnerving. Yes I felt like a slug!!!!!!!!!!!

In the end, people got the "normal" amount of tracktime. Everyone basically lost one session, which is what would happen if we didn't ride through lunch.
