Sorry! But everytime I read a kham thread all I hear is the voice from the little asian kid from the goonies. A Boody trap for a track day? This place makes me laugh after a bad day. Sorry kham, never met ya but your reputation prevails.

If I'm in full leathers, and there are people watching who might get a laugh out of it, I hang off like Gino's there coaching me, I'm talking full on outside boot on the seat head under my clipon hang off! Woohoo! Fear the obeying all traffic laws squid!

Edit: This technique works best on scooters in downtown Portland.

To be in Blue you have to prove you can be there.

As I said Tony's has you be in red for at least the first few sessions. Then you can see about bumping to Yellow and so on.

Re: Using Your Own Bike at a TD

Kinda funny. I'm the opposite when it comes to Street/Track. On the street I'm way more 'paranoid' and paying attention to everything. Even on the lonesome back-mountain roads of NorCal with no cars around.

On the track I completely ZEN-out and ride in the zone. The days I'm on the track and 'thinking about shit' are the days I'm stiff, riding poorly, and of my game. When you are going your fastest you tend to be not thinking about anything at all.

Least for me. Obviously everyone is different.

This thread made me laugh randomly though that's why I came back. All this chatter about riding your own streetbike and I realized just now I've done more laps around the track on bikes I do not own than I have on my own motorcycles. For real, no joke. I've done far far less laps on my own bike(s) than I have on borrowed ones.... hehe.

I know that bugs some people out but if the alternative is not riding.. then I'll ride! Some highlights..

    1) going off-roading in T1 at VIR North at about 100mph on Oreo's ZX6 in Spring 2006
    2) going off-roading at about 80mph for a few hundred feet in the desert on Motorcyclist magazine's KTM Superduke press bike at Willow Springs.
    3) blowing out T1 at Barber and coming within 2" of the slick grass on a $40,000 Ducati 1098R
    4) wheeling a Ducati 848 into the Corkscrew at Laguna and hearing the front tire chirp 3 times as it lands sideways
    5) getting on the brakes past the first cone in T3, having the front lock up and slamming sideways to the handlebar stop, in the wet, on Kurlon's GS500 at the Oct 2nd trackday, and oh oh so narrowly keeping it upright and just squeeking thru the tire wall... *whew*

    Oh yes good times!

I did that shit in high school, I got to see the Tony Hawk tour with Social Distortion playing, then meet Tony Hawk and all the riders after. It was fucking awesome.
