VIR dates March 2006 NOW DEFINITE

I have had word from VIR that the Rolex car race has been switched to the first week in April at VIR for 2006. that sucks for us as it means we will be pushed around a bit as the Rolex guys use the track for days and days before their event to practice.

The Rolex event is a spectator event and as such takes preference at VIR (obviously).

I am working with Cornerspeed and VIR to finalise our dates and options and I'll get back to you all as soon as I know something. It should be this week.

    Cool Derek
Thanks for doing all the leg work here for us
Only reason I would bail is if it interferred with a race weekend at Loudon.....which is late April

    UPDATE ON VIR

Well, I have spent some serious time on the 'phone with Aaron in the past couple of weeks and this is what we have SO FAR.

We can have one of the following possibilities:

    OPTION 1.

March 26th (Sunday) South Course followed by March 27th North course (Monday).

The upside of this is that the Monday is a cornerspeed level II school which means some very very good training from some top expert riders. The downside is that unless you have an accredited school diploma (star, kieth code etc) or a race license, you will have to do a mandatory level 1 school on the saturday a a cost of $350. See www.cornerspeed.net for details of their level 1 school.

OPTION 2. (this is still not definite yet)

June 19th (Monday) South course, followed by June 20th (tuesday) North course. This would be NETR only, not a school (same as the last event we had there).

    OPTION 3.

April 15th, 16th, 17th (Easter Weekend saturday thru monday) on the PATRIOT course. 3 days, but am told the course is not as nice as the North and South courses.

    opinions?

    I'd want option one.

The dates with option two don't work for me

The dates for option 3 might work, but how crappy is the course?

It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?

    Patriot course... 1.1 miles?

    I'd go for Option 2...

Too bad I'm plannin on taking the first penguin school of the season on April 28th otherwise I'd go for option 1... Another day off work & an extra $350 is a little steep

Option two sounds the best, but only one or three work for me.

As for option one, I wonder if they'll accept experience at TonysTrackDays?

NHIS is 750 miles from VIR, a little under 12 1/2 hrs. so if your racing saturday you should be able to make the trackdays. race saturday, drive sunday, ride mon and tuesday, trek home wednesday

Jason Pridmore's class does qualify you for the Cornerspeed level II school and open days.

Tony, how about you calling Aaron and convincing him that an experienced tonystrackdays participant should qualify??

I guess I'd have to know what he's looking for. I'll pop him out an email when I get a moment.

Option 2 for me, unless 2 of tonys track days somehow equal a race license, in which case option 1 or 2.

    Option 1 for me.

Would the cornerspeed level I school qalify for a race license at Loudon? Does Penguin require a new racer take the Penguin school as opposed to another race school (is the Cornerspeed Level I school a race school?) combined with Loudn Track day experience? I'd contact Jerry Wod about that possibility, then the $350.00 would be well spent for Pete and Jamie.

    Re: Penguin.
I'm 99.9% sure that in order to qualify for your CCS/LRRS license you need a 'diploma' from a legitimate race school. (aka: Star, Code, Pridmore, Penguin, etc). If the Cornerspeed School falls under that category (haven't researched their deal) then that's okay for getting your CCS/LRRS license.

However $350 for Cornerspeed as opposed to $220 for Penguin is a big difference (including Rookie Race).
