“Suzuki has also received reports of cracking or breakage of the frame behind and below the steering neck when the motorcycle is subjected to repeated hard landings from hazardous maneuvers such as extreme or extended wheelies or other stunts..."
Keep the front wheel on the ground ya squid.
my 95 cbr has handled wheelies for over a decade. i think they did a good job finally addressing the matter and issuing a recall. you dont have to be a stunter to appreciate the fact that your modern sportbike wont fall apart when the front wheel comes back down.
Wow, that is something I would have never thought a major manufacturer would cover. Good for them! It gives me further confidence in the brand.
If anyone has specific questions about the recall on their bike... Feel free to contact me.

Suzuki is not the only manufacturer plagued by this issue.
Seems frame integrity is more common as of late and for reasons unknown.
Well; come later with snow off the ground I guess I am a candidate.
There is also metal fatigue and stress risers at play
There may NOW be more of an issue now that the bikes are 3+ years out. Many of the bikes are crashed out.
Considering I get power wheelies in 1,2,3 the bike needs to be wheelie proof.
A modern bike now is only strong enough to push air out of the way. The days of a slow speed slide, curb hit and good to go are over. Yes I know a lot of you are driving hit bikes... take them to GMD and check if its pointing straight
Thanks for the heads up
not Germaine but I love the new bitch slap EMO

All K5/K6 GSX-R1000s are subject.
Dye tests will be performed on the frames. Bikes that fail the dye test will get new frames (oh joy). Bikes that pass the dye tests will get reinforcements at the known stress points (oh joy again).
Contact your dealer for more info on how to get yours taken care of...
Now...
Do your local dealer a little favor...
Don't call them now and expect immediate action. We all just found out about this. We don't have the kits to test or reinforce the frames yet. Its a new recall and Suzuki will provide us with lots more info soon.
