If the head is all beat to shit like that, something must have gotten into the cylinder, either that or it was pinging like hell. I think.

What caused all the damage to the plug? Are you going to pull the head?

Eventually. The two things standing in my way are Family and Work right now.

A little update on the damage. Should make a nice paperweight now.

Wow, that piston is nicely pocketed now. Whack a fresh plug in and fire it up!

My 1117 motor that was in my RF600. It was fun while it lasted. Anyone know a place that repairs combustion chambers?

WOW, I bet you knew when that let go!!!

What does the cylinder look like? With that amount of damage to the combustion chamber I'd look into a new head. It might be cheaper. Good luck

It was pretty obvious, luckily I was close to home at the time.

The cylinder looks Ok at first glance. I see a small nick at the very top (above the rings) that I am hoping will hone out.

I am looking into a head as well and you are correct it would be cheaper. The problem is I have well over 100 hours modifying this head to work with the 1100w bottom end and don't know that I feel like modifying another.

Heh, I remember talking to you about that monstrosity at the last trackday. I remember thinking, this guy is nuts, the first ever RF1117. Sucks it grenaded on you, but I suppose it wasn't exactly unexpected
