2pc. I can't get my one piece on solo, no way I'd wear that thing on the street.

2pc.its easier to get on and off, breathes a little better. Plus if I'm ridig on the street and want to wear just my jacket and jeans I can. Without the expense of having to buy an leather jacket.

1 piece leather for the track.

2 piece cordura for the street.

I like my street gear to be rain proof, with lots of pockets, vents, etc.

yeah i'm a fan of purpose built stuff and leathers/textiles fall under that category.

Find yourself a nice 2 piece w/ a jacket that's long enough to wear solo. (most 2pc suit jackets are a little shorter than their standalone versions.)

    A good suit to consider...

    SYED Leathers ™

Top of the line suit and protection at upper, middle range pricing.

Also, from their FAQ page. I follow these directions and my suit looks brand new after 8 years or so. And the leather has remained very supple to the touch.

    13. Q: How do I take care of the suit?

A: At least once a year, the leather should be conditioned with leather conditioner or mink oil to keep it from drying out. It's always best to hang your leathers up to dry thoroughly if they get wet from rain or sweat. A damp suit can be put it in the dryer on warm to keep it soft. A mild soap and water solution can be used to wipe down the soild leathers. They can also be professionally cleaned.

Re: 1 Piece or 2 Piece Leather For Street?

2 piece all the way for the street. It gives you the option of not wearing one or the other. Not that I wore my pants without my jacket but Ive done the jacket alone.

1 piece for the track. Not that I think my 2 piece would have fallen apart but I had a pretty good crash last race weekend and it would have really tested the zipper on my 2 piece. Its nice knowing I have the bit of extra security of not having the split at the waist.

I wear two piece leathers most of the year. Everyone I talked to said a one piece is a PITA on the street.

I talked to Syed when I was getting suits priced. I don't think they do the double zipper. I went with Barnacle Bill and got the double zipper done (that wasn't the determining factor). You're right though. It's great and I have no desire to go back.

To answer the original question. 1 piece on the track and I have an assortment of street gear. If I'm in leathers on the street they're 2 piece. I also have 1 and 2 piece textiles depending on the situation.

I was afraid of that. I do have some BB leathers which did their job fine. I have a Vanson now which Im happy with but its getting close to replacement time and I was looking at my options. Syed shows more options on their page and I like the fact they sew in a back protector if you want. I didnt see that option with BB. Just the measure over one. Either way I would like to get a good look at your one piece over the next race weekend or the two Tonys days. Hopefully I can also get a good look at some Syed leathers so I can make a more informed decision.

Don't know about the 2 zipper thing. I agree though, that seems like a nice feature.

Definitely come check out my suit when you get a chance. You'll be amazed at the weight difference between it and some of the "cheaper" suits.

Saving weight is important... but I'll take thicker leather and give up a cheeseburger anytime.

Definitely take a look at all of them. Put mine/tony's/yours side by side and get a good idea of the differences between the three, during the track days. I'm curious as well to look at some of the intricacies. Having a back protector sewn in could be nice as well. I would put together a list of the features you want and call all of custom places. Figure out who will do what for you and how much and go from there. Having it done over the winter is the right move since you won't have a tight deadline with races coming up, etc.

On the street you should wear a 2-piece because then when you stop to get some lunch/food at a restaurant or something, you only look like a retard in leather pants, not a retard in leather pants with a leather jacket hanging off his backside.

Re: 1 Piece or 2 Piece Leather For Street?

I have an older 2 piece from Joe Rocket that I crash tested at the track this season. They proctected me just fine. Some little holes on the leg seam that makes me want a better suit though.

As already said I wouldn't want to mess around with the 1 piece on the street.
