I think that was T6?! That corner sucked.
Anyone keep the timing sheets and can post scans or something?
I did not know this was bumper carts..LOL

I blame it on the cold pavement.....oorrrr my heavy brake foot. You can't break and be on the gas, which makes it a bit challenging.
They were pretty laxed about us bumping. Kind of surprised, but I was ok with it. Only way I could pass Oxx was to give him a tap!

I got very used to countering after each corner when Brian was behind me.
The new karts took some getting used to... apply the brake and first it just lifts the throttle, press more THEN it works the brakes. At least in my kart this meant the initial application resulted in this eerie surging forward sensation, the motor went quiet but there was still some drive from something... then lock and spin.
I've got'em at home, so I can post them tonight.
I did copy our best lap times into a spreadsheet to which I have access on Google Drive.

So you can't keep the clutch loaded on braking? Lame.

I think these are the same karts that are at PVIK. Hence trying to slide and not brake as much to keep on the power otherwise the kart dies.

Ah, that explains a lot. I thought it was odd how non-linear the brakes felt. I was instinctively getting off the gas when braking so I never noticed the brakes doing it as well!
I need more seat time in a kart to learn how to properly drive those things! Next time I want to be able to stick with the lead pack!

At PVIK, I had good luck with the stab of brakes pre-turn-in, then I'm able to get the engine loaded at apex. Then no sliding. Lose just as much momentum sliding I've found. Carts that are loose tend to be a little slower than tight carts driving a little less aggressively.
Looks like that floor is mighty slick up there, I'm very interested in trying it.

Maybe sliding just a little works, but my kart would bog down before recovering from the slide, so I tended to brake early harder than I think I should to prevent the slide. That certainly made it easier for others to pass me!
Good, sounds like I was on the right track with getting my braking done early. Now I just need to not over-brake!
I hope this becomes a recurring event and you'll get a chance to join us!

I can't take credit for that. I just cut'n'pasted from the Google spreadsheet and to my surprise the result was automagically nicely formatted.
The result sheets show me finishing last in both races, so I wanted a more positive view of the data. By looking at the fastest lap times, I'm in the top 5! I'm also less that half a second away from Oxx, the race winner! Not bad for a rookie, eh?

my car was good until i needed to get out of the hole from the second hairpin. tim and kerry would just get 2+ car lengths on me by the time i got onto the straight. i was losing at least .5 of a second there
