Casually looking at a '11 S1000rr. I've ridden a lot of different bikes but not that one.
Have you? What do you like, what do you dislike?
Thank you!

I think maybe it's just 1 r and I got a little overzealous, my bad.

don't be a pussy.
Does Jesusbike mean I'll have a religious moment on this machine?

Krazy Again used to own one. I can't remember if it was a 2010 or a 2011, if that matters.
He seemed to love the bike, but got rid of it because he has a family and that thing is just silly.

A friend just got the S1000R version (not the RR). Brought it to a couple track days he says the power is unreal. I demoed the 2011 RR it was a blast, but decided to stay in 600CC territory for a while longer.

I believe some have the traction control option and others do not. I rode one for two days at a CSS class at NJMP and with the traction control and riding modes it is easy to not be terrified by such a powerful bike on the track.
Backed off at 135-140 on the straight, the fast guys were going much faster.
Yeah, if I was in the market for that style of bike I would buy one. My bike vibrated through
the bars pretty good. My carpal tunnel couldn't take it. BMW put heavier cranks
in those bikes starting in mid ,10. I guess that helped with the vibes. I also had the
carpal tunnel fixed. The traction control, abs, and quick shifter all worked really well.
Great engine, good handling, decent brakes. Really
just a super fast German gsxr. With a goofy front
end.
I've heard of some people having engine problems. Like blowing up. I'm not sure I'd want
to own a higher mileage bike outside of warranty. Idk, maybe they're fine.

I appreciate the feedback guys, the one I'm investigating is an '11 with 4K miles and I'd put the extended warranty on it.
My main concerns are I've read a lot about stalling when downshifting from 3rd to 2nd and I've also read a lot about catching false neutrals on track.
I'm not planning on doing much with it besides garage queen and light street duty. I think it may fit my needs.

Go ride it....you're gonna love it. Nobody hates how they ride...looks...well that's different![]()

It doesn't matter how many 'R's it has in its name. If it says BMW, it is guaranteed to be ugly. It's almost as though BMW Motorrraaad's design team is chartered to sit down and think about how ugly they can make the bikes look. Their Christmas bonus must be tied directly to ugliness. "Sorry Hanz, no bonus for you this year, because one of the bikes your team designed is only moderately ugly. We aim for 100% compliance at BMW"
Now, I know several guys who ride liter bikes at the very top of the liter bike category and they all say "if there's one bike I can't catch on the straight, it's the S1000" These things MOVE! And the electronics package is supposedly very well dialed in.

Thank you for feedback.
So, the follow up to this...
I went and saw the bike in person. It looks awesome. I hopped on it, started it - goosed the throttle and I have to admit...it's not for me. I don't need to ride it around to know I won't love it. The cherry (ducati) on top was getting home and seeing that hot little red Italian sitting there. Yeah, the BMW looks awesome but it's no replacement for the Duc - in my eyes, for my needs. I'm going to pass.
If anyone is interested in a beautiful s1000rr - CMP in Lunenburg has one for a song.

So, what exactly didn't you like about it out of curiosity?
