If you ask me this is on of those projects that is awesome in theory and in the end you have a bike that is ineffably beautiful, but in application seems like its gonna be too perfect for its own good

I stopped reading what all the stuff was and just looked at the pictures and imagined it in my garage with a layer of dust and dirt on it and a single tear rolled down my face

I think it might have been 80-100... ON TOP of a 1098R. Why buy an R if you're going to replace everything anyway?
Nice bike, though. Maybe somebody couldn't get a Desmosedici?

The guy said they bought the forks first before the build went nuts... already had triples made, etc... He said in hindsight they would have put superbike forks on it... and they may end up doing that in the end...

Seriously. In spite of the claims in the thread, this is looking more like a bike that someone is going to be sleeping with rather than racing. I can't imagine the additional amount of flex is going to be doing anyone any favors when you open it up.

I really should have read the article before making my stupid comment then, huh?

Yeah, bike like that needs better forks.

Re: heres a bike you will NEVER have...

Lot's of expensive parts... yet, as I read the notes from the guy putting it together, I got this sense that there was no 'big picture' view for performance... Sounded more like a rich guy said 'build me a Ti 1098'. He did even know what kind of Ti was used for the frame to defend how its better.. "Class 9"..? "Not used for stiffness - just to tie the headset to the engine" (I'm paraphrasing).. That's a ludicrous statement...

My guess is that when it comes together, somebody's going to be awfully disappointed in the results for what they just paid $80K-$100K for....

    Nice to look at... but.....hmmmmph.

Nah, not at all. That's not the point I was trying to make. I didn't read the whole thread either. What I meant was I agree, and it seems like they do too. I just happened to stumble on the post about the forks and thought I'd pass it along
