Thinking about getting these Chainsickle rearsets as they move your feet back and up quite a bit. However, the current mid-controls are quite comfortable and I am going to get the bike running with these first, then decide if I want the more aggressive Chainsickle rearsets.

Finally, I did end up deciding on spending more to get the exhaust I wish I would have known to get from the beginning. You really need a high-mount exhaust with these tall shocks. It is a DanMoto high mount for a Sportster. Unfortunately they went out of business and I think I got the last one. Pics, but not of my bike.
I had to go back through everything to make sure I tightened up all the bolts since I had so much time since I last worked on it. Good thing, as I did leave the fork clamps loose. I also changed out the brake fluid and other maintenance.
Been itching to ride it for the past few weeks, just could not get the time to do it. Finally, got it out for a five minute shakedown around the neighborhood today. Felt a little sketchy to me as I was not used to the position, it was cold, and the tires are 7 years old. The pegs feel a little too far forward to me, so I was a little off riding it. I am thinking about a different rearset that has the pegs further back. Also, I definitely need to get springs for the front forks, those things are soooo soft right now. Unfortunately, getting cold so not sure how much more testing I'll be able to get in.
I'm curious to know how hot that exhaust gets on your inner leg when temps warm up again!
Love the laced front wheel!
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
Love laced wheels, but wouldn't want one! I'm not the cleaning type.

Any new news?

Yeah, going a different direction now. I just could not do the cafe style with my height. My knees were banging into my elbow anytime I went to shift or hit the rear brake, lol.
So now I am going to go down the dirt tracker style. I ordered up some BMX style bars with an 8" rise and some new spoked wheels, 19" front and rear.
Got the bars in and they feel like they will make the ride more natural and comfortable for me. Having a hard time finding some decent street tires in 19" for the rear tire. Lots of 18" dual sport tires out there, but all I can seem to find for 19" rear tires are dirt track tires. Not sure how well these will do on the street, so I am still looking for tires.
Any progress?

While I really loved the look of the cafe racer version I originally bought this for to finish, I just simply could not ride the bike in that form. At 6'4", my knees would hit my elbows just sitting on the bike, much less trying to shift, so I had to change the set-up.
I ended up with the flat track racer style to open up the rider triangle and free up some much needed space. It really has turned out to be a good choice. Very much feels like a hooligan bike and I am much more comfortable riding it.
Just registered it about two weeks ago, so still getting used to it and it definitely needs some work. The front forks need some stiffer springs. I hop on now and nearly bottom the tubes out, I think they must have used springs from a Bic pen in there, lol. Also, getting a ton of backfiring from the engine. Not sure what is going on there, but will need to address that.
Nice work; looks like it'll be wicked fun after the springs/motor are sorted.

I was first gonna ask what the fuck did you do to it. Then I saw the "6'4"" part. I don't blame you!
Looks wild!

This is way better than the cafe build. Trackers are so much more useful and fun. Nice job, glad to see this one closed. Enjoy!
I went to MMI I know what Im doing here chief
