Rode an 04 and after I adjusted my posture I loved it. The guy had brand new Michelin PP on it, and the front end was UBER sensitive...just something that I wasn't used to. 2004 is a good year, and the factory is sick! If you are looking for a bike that is nice to ride and cruise around on though, that is not the bike you are looking at. The ohlins suspension is very good, but it is geared very much towards the track. But if you don't mind pounding down the road on the sweetest V-Twin $$$ can by, I say do it, I almost did, but realized that cleaning out the bank for a bike wasn't the smartest idea. Good luck!
Google the bike too, there are some very good reviews on the factory model.

I'd compare it by looking at actual wet weight specs.
I think the RSV is quite heavy in comparison to other litre sized bikes.

Heavy or not, it's brilliant. The motor is perhaps the most fun thing bolted between frame spars. Handling is astonishingly light for a big bike. Fit and finish is Aprilias weak point IMO. Well not fit, but finish.

This bike is a rack, however.

Re: 2004 Aprilia RSV Mille R Factory... What is your opinion?

I ride an 04 Factory, bought it as a leftover from SEACOAST SPORT CYCLES in '05. Love it. I come from the bike of the month club and this is the first one to hang around for more than a couple years. It will never be as problem free as a Japanese bike. If you can't get used to that idea, stay away fom Aprilia, Ducati, MV, ect. The bike is well put together, but there are a couple things to be aware of.

    1. the swing arms were cracking, no big deal they are replaced under recall- just make sure it was done or get it done
    2. the clutch needs to be bled because air gets in the circuit. Ten seconds with an 11mm wrench and you're good for a while (month or months)
    3. bad connectors from the stator to the rectifier, some go bad (mine did) some don't. I think the key is to keep an eye on them and keep them packed with die-electric grease. Worst case they need to be replaced. I cut mine out and spliced the wires.
    4. the rear brake needs to be bled, same as the clutch.
    5. some people have had the stator go bad, I think it's fairly rare.

Keep in mind my bike has 12k mi on it, with a solid 1.5k of those being track miles. I beat this thing like I hate it, and nothing has broken. The Ohlins suspension works great on the street and the track. The front brakes are some of if not the best brakes you will ever feel. I have done quite a few 500 mile days on it with no problems. I have never had a problem getting parts from Aprilia. Go buy two.

And here it is. Please don't me for painting it up like a Suzuki. I was going to leave it all black, but then I got high.

Burnham, the bike looks great, don't worry about the paint or being "high", just stick to your guns and do what makes you happy.

I traded emails with a guy in Hollis that's selling a Factory, probably the same guy/bike. Nice bike, sounds like it's well kept. If I were able to right now, I'd get it, but won't be for a little while longer.....

Looks more BMW MTech than Zook

Thanks Kevin, those are some shitty pictures. I've got to get down to Sites and Signs and have some more stickers made up, hopefully some yellow number plates soon too. See you up there.
