This is by far the worst instance of stale fuel I've ever seen. Even the smell is on a new level and cannot be described.

A replacement pump is inbound from FPF, arriving Weds. From there it'll be some Dremel work, a bit of soldering then reassembly, installation and praying.

I bought a barn stored dirt bike that had been sitting for 7 years. It had solidified gas in the bottom of the tank. I even had to clean the petcock valve. That was carbed, though.

Pump arrived today so I grabbed my Dremel and went to work on modifying the pump housing connectors. Rather than solder, I ended up using spade connectors for the fuel level and pump power. It was more about the short leads on the fuel level sensor that changed my thoughts.

Fuel level is indeed responding on the dash and I cycled the pump very quickly to ensure everything worked.

Fuel Pump Factory was great. Ordered through their site Monday evening, part arrived today, free shipping.

Next task is to desludge the fuel tank then see if it'll fire up!

Cleaned out the tank and it was bad, as expected. Didn't take any pictures due to the incredible mess but I ended up with a small bench outside, a garden hose and lots more Simple Green.

I was also able to reach in with rags and a small wire brush and scrub pretty much everything clean. Again, no pics because I was too excited at that point.

Put everything back together, cycled the pump a few times to prime the pump and lines, hit the starter and the engine sputtered to life!

As everything warmed up, I did a walk around to ensure there weren't any issues and I saw none. Wound up taking a quick 4 mile test run on a closed course and the bike rides completely fine in all regards.

Next tasks are fork seals, tires and to complete a full maintenance on the bike. Looks like I'll be riding fairly soon!

If anyone can help with a couple immediate needs, that'd be great.

Looking for tires in a 120/ 180 size that will pass inspection. Don't care if they're shagged, just need to be above the wear bars and not dry rotted.

Could also use a swingarm stand at a minimum, if someone has something kicking around.

I am on a very short leash with the Mrs until the boat sells so I'm trying to work this bike back onto the street without ending up a single father or dead.

I may be able to toss you a swingarm stand. I'm guessing no spools? Pretty sure I have a couple of each floating around in the garage somewhere. Are you still in Epsom?

Why do you need stands? It has a center stand.
If you need to pull the rear wheel, put it on the center stand.
If you need to pull the front wheel, put it on the center stand and put something heavy on the rear seat.
If you need to pull both wheels, loosen everything first, put it on the center stand, and stack some wood or a scissor jack under the header until both wheels are off the ground.

I don't know who would remove a center stand. I want one on all my street bikes.

Some removed the cs on the FZ6 in my garage too. It's really annoying.

I'd give my left nut for a center stand on my Street Glide!

    Re: 2005 Yamaha FZ6

Whoops, I’m an idiot. I zoomed in on Whynot’s photo to check for the center stand before I posted.
There’s some center stands with springs and bolts on eBay for ~$50. Gen1 (04-06) and Gen2 (07-09) should be the same.
I sold my 07 a few years ago, but I’ll check to see if I have any parts kicking around.

If looking for used parts, maybe check Powerhouse Cycle Salvage in Leominster MA. (Not that I've done any business there.)

Also, pics of my FZ6 for reference:

Yes, Stoneman, still in Epsom. I'd gladly accept a rear stand if you have one. I can throw a few bucks your way as well.

No spools, correct? I'll see what I can dig up. Maybe meet at Hill Top some late afternoon after work? I'm usually back up in that area by 4:30-5:00.

No spools. Let me know what works for you but Hill Top is certainly doable.

I probably have a Vortex rear stand if you want. It's set up spools or swing arm. I could bring it up to the classic.

Apparently I am being visited by elves. The tires showed up out of nowhere and now I have fork seals.

Sam, I'll be in touch about that stand.
