    Re: 2006 Daytona Track-day Build

TJ at Riders Discount told me front rotors are no good with race pads such as the CL pads. He then quoted me $600 for a set of brembo rotors. Ew.

Run stock or is there a cost effective upgrade? For now I will be keeping stock until I get a little more track time, but I'm curious for the future.

Don't talk to that guy too much! lol. I have the stock rotors as far as I know. Been using performance Friction Carbon pads. Good enough.

I didn't know woodcraft had a harness either... I have to do something with my ignition when I put the new triples on soon. But I'll probably just make a bracket to keep the OEM one, since I still ride street.

And what is this about pads and rotors? He just sold me some C60s yesterday... didn't mention anything about not using them with stock rotors.

And I quote: "The stock rotors are too thin to run proper race pads without them being damaged eventually."

Not sure how long "eventually" is. But he inevitably ruined a sale by telling me that so I'm guessing he isn't lying.

Ah, well that is true far ALL rotors with scintered race pads. THat is partly why I use PFC pads. No excessive wear on rotors. However, I swap over to scintered metal pads for more bite, knowing that they will wear my rotors more quickly.

well I have separate rotors on my track wheels for track use only. So I guess I won't be too worried about that. I'll probably swap pads everytime I swap wheels.

The linkage I've been testing can now be purchased. The user clyons at 675.net is the engineer. You can contact him over there, or email chris@clyons-eng.com

Curious... Who makes a fairing stay used on the 675 with track bodywork? Does the fairing stay hold the OEM speedo?

You can get them either way from motoholders or something. I think it's an offshoot of yoyodyne. I can't remember.

Paul, the Woodcraft risers don't interfere with the fairing stay (bars can go full lock)?

I had to modify the brake reservoir mount. But it wasn't hard to figure out. I did 1.5" rise. 1 " might be perfect.

    Re: 2006 Daytona Track-day Build

    Have the bike back.

I've just been throwing parts on left and right. I should have taken a before and after picture of the cock-pit cause my god it has changed.

Trying to decide if I want to do 2 days at Palmer this Monday/Tuesday...I could do one day, but I want to do a 2 day event and I'm not sure I can swing the days off right now.

Awesome, maybe I'll see you there. I'm off to the basement to put on more parts! I really hope I can remember how to ride after all of this.

lol, I hope you haven't crossed into the "kitchen sink" build territory. Throwing so many parts at once that you get lost...

    Re: 2006 Daytona Track-day Build

Messing around today with the painters tape...I think I'm going to go with blue and silver actually, I think it looks good. What looks silver is just primer. I take very little credit for the design, I had a helper.

After laying out the design, I got around to spraying the base. Color match looks pretty good immediately after spraying but fades as it drys. We'll see when it gets the clear.

    Re: 2006 Daytona Track-day Build

I apologize in advance if the picture is sideways or upside down, blame the iPhone.

Would you guys hesitate to mount the brake fluid resovoir to the triple clamps? Attack has this nice threaded hole (of which I've screwed a bolt into to demonstrate) that would be perfect to mount the brake fluid resovoir too. I cannot think of any reason this would be bad. The bolt I've screwed in is actually the exact one that attached the resovoir bracket to the stock clip-ons. I think it's just meant to be. Also, paint match is pretty good, we'll see once I get the clear on it.

    Re: 2006 Daytona Track-day Build

Don't see any reason that would be an issue. Currently mine is attached to the bolt that clamps the triple around the fork.

I'm going to have to come up with some new stuff when I put the attacks on over the next week though. Cool that they seem to have a spot for that. Big issue will be what to do with the ignition. Might be time to play with fiberglass some more.
