Re: 2007 Suzuki Vstrom 650 - breakdirt916
Get a battery tender. Hook it up overnight. Riding a bike for 20 minutes won't do a heck of a lot for a drained battery.
Did you leave the key on by mistake for 20 minutes? Is that what you were saying?
Probably due for a battery if I had to guess.

Re: 2007 Suzuki Vstrom 650 - breakdirt916
Have not seen a voltmeter like that, very cool!
I have a little LED voltage thing NHbubba mentioned...It will flash if voltage gets too high...Gonna mount it
@Iglu - yes, fault of my own...Got to destination, hit kill switch, left key in on position, got phone, forgot key, left it there
Tended it for 4 hours and she is back to normal...Pretty sure all my bikes will get tinder pig tails put on the battery...I use that little thing so much
Got a dual sport ride around Glen Helen this weekend... Definitely not gonna take the DL!!

With the key in the "on" position, are your headlights still on?

I just plug it into the regular SAE lead that hangs off the battery for my Battery Tender. The VFRs are notorious for charging issues...
Where U buy dat?
I have some Yuasa jumper cables but now carry this on the Tiger.

I got a Battery Tender-branded one from Amazon. I also got this USB port, which saves needing a cigarette lighter.

Sheez, I try to use this for everything lol

Need to mix 5 gallons of premix, and don't want to lose the parking spot with your truck?
Throw your gas can on the mule
She did not like it...5 gallons of gas there was heavy!

Re: 2007 Suzuki Vstrom 650 - breakdirt916
I used to haul 5 gallons of Diesel in the milk crate strapped to the back of the KiLaR. It'll do it!

Huh...Had a weird incident...Did some hella aggressive downshifting (not rev matching...And clutch popping on the limits of tire traction...almost-back-it-in style) before a red light and the clutch stopped disengaging. Of course it's 8pm and dark out here in the sticks, and after a 10 hour shift, so not much I really feel like tinkering with on the side of the road.
Pulling the clutch in feels like you're just pulling a cable that's not attached at the engine.
The change from "working fine" to "not working at all" was sudden...So I am guessing something broke or fell off inside the sprocket cover where the cable attaches to whatever mechanism in there.
If I try jiggling the clutch lever, I can "feel it" on the sprocket cover, so I don't think the cable is broken....But we will see on my next day off when I can start dissecting parts.

I get just over 200 on my 1K being "sensible" with the throttle.

Ouch dude, sorry it left you stuck. Very interested to hear what you find behind the clutch cover though.

you guyssss
I've had many instances where I'm spontaneously "left stuck" and I always assume there's a higher power keeping me off the bike to prevent any mishap that may have occurred had I been riding.
And to be honest, I'm okay taking a break from 2-wheeled commuting...just yesterday another guy on a local OC/socal based forum went down hard after a cager illegally crossed the double yellow and he didn't have enough time to respond. Sucks to drive that oaf/gas guzzler of a truck, but I can bring my YZ and do some light gravel road riding after work on alternating weekends.

650 has a cable clutch so separation would be obvious

Not really sure why
Going to get another push rod and go from there...
Edit: and the part is on backorder. Just bought a used one from eBay instead...

Re: 2007 Suzuki Vstrom 650 - breakdirt916
It's not a motard, don't ride it like one.
Chain probably kinked off the sprocket while you were abusing your clutch and hit it.

Re: 2007 Suzuki Vstrom 650 - breakdirt916
I like to back-rationalize it as "improperly adjusted chain"

Going to San Diego to sail next three days and weather report is funny for a New Englander. Same for each day:
"Sunny. Overnight clear. Low 55 high 69. Chance of precipitation: zero."

Re: 2007 Suzuki Vstrom 650 - breakdirt916

Which days?
Wanna ride? Hopefully the push rod will be here in time

Re: 2007 Suzuki Vstrom 650 - breakdirt916
I get in tomorrow around noon, then have three full-day classes and leave Sunday night. Staying at Humphrey's Half Moon Inn.
If you are near there I will look for my leftover DL650 spares.
