    Re: 2008 Riding Season Goals

    1) Pick up a track bike, hopefully in the next 2 weeks.
    2) Get a new job that allows me some weekends off.
    3) Buy track days, go to them, and have a lot of fun at them.
    4) Get on more rides with you hooligans. (with out getting ran off the road by the cop)

Do more street riding (Itd be hard to do less than I did this year)
Get the 636 up at a trackday to have some fun.
Bring the 636 to a track thats a bit more fast and less technical than Loudon to really open it up.
Dropped 2.4 seconds off my best, can run a couple seconds off my previous best regularly, bumped to AM after the second weekend, took wood first weekend as an AM
Basically quit street riding though, dont care, dont enjoy it much anymore. Damn 5-0 trying to hold me down
    No NH track day yet
Brought the 636 to VIR, didnt really open her up, but damn did I have fun.

    Re: 2008 Riding Season Goals

im with Pete. id like to do a little 3 day trip. Kings Dominion, Busch Gardens or something.

    racing:
well i guess its a little late, but...
    -18's-DONE
-more consistent lap times.(low 20s/19s)-almost there
    -finish top 10 ("full field")-DONE
-wouldve liked to finish top 15 in pts for the season, but LWSB is a really tough class. i grabbed some pts first weekend and then got fucked out of a couple more this past weekend.
-would like to do more trackdays. especially at other places. had plans for VIR in Oct. but gas prices are putting the kibosh on that. def. doing NJ.
-get a side job doing what i love and what i used to do in AZ, being at the track. preferably helping others get better and be more comfortable on the track and with their bike and abilities (trackdays). i like the feeling i used to get when someone would tell me "wow, i tried what you told me in that turn and its way better." makes me kinda feel like i know what im talking about- this of course is partially out my hands

[QUOTE=R7;444072]Track.... Maybe go up to watch the races more than one weekend...and do a campout [quote/]

    Failed

Street.... Probably not much seeing how I live on a dirt road now and hate getting my bike dirty
Hmmm, I've been on the R1 a bit more than I thought I would..once or twice a week anyways. The bike kinda looks like ass though because of said dirt road

Dirt.... Hmmm, LOTS of dirty action, I'm thinking a ride of some sort every single day I need to learn to ride all over again seeing I have only been on 1 or 2 real dirty rides this season.
Not as much as expected, the fun stuff anyways. Pretty much any decent day I do make a lap or 2 around the property but that's just to keep the underbrush from growing back

    General.... Did I mention dirt?
Gonna give myself a fail overall

    Re: 2008 Riding Season Goals

Street- did a road trip to TN and I have been riding to work rain or shine
Track- ran a low :18, should bump to AM soon, and the bank hasn't come for my house, yet.
Things are better than I thought they would be. If I can get my times more consistent and drop two more seconds I'll be happy-er.

Fix up my friends trailer to be more motorcycle friendly.
Get a commuter bike with better mpg.
    So these were mine...

Track ones.. dont know... First 2 days were full on rain days. so I was mainly trying to be smooth and stay upright.

Then got rear ended by the priest and my bikes been in the shop for over a month now. Rode Hesso's bike in June which he graciously loaned me but it was heavier and had more power than I am used to... plus who's gonna really push a bike that someone lends you! Getting on the Throttle more aggressively on a 929 is different than doing that on a 600.
Did get the Tank Pads... Tech Spec

"Fix up my friends trailer to be more motorcycle friendly."
I did one better, bought a new Harbor Freight job... and it does the trick
and fits perfectly under my porch!

    -Brake harder/later., Power harder post-apex.
-Turn-in quicker (reach traction limits / max lean faster).
    -Work on right-handers.
    -Don't crash.

    Street:

    -Ride more.
-Find more people in the area I enjoy riding with.
    -Find more twisties.

    General:

-Complete garage/workshop (see my other thread)
    -Continue amassing tool collection.
    -Complete desired winter maintenance/upgrades.
So far I'm only failing at the not crashing part of my track goals, and the riding more part of my street goals, which is due to the failure of the not crashing part of my track goals

    - Ride more consistently, without stupid/avoidable crashes
    - Improve throttle control on corner exit
    - Improve braking control
    - Keep head and upper body lower while cornering
    - Almost, .6 seconds to go
    - Hes running 13's now....f that
    - Check
    - Eh, been in the top 10 a few times
    - Not gunna happen I dont think
    - Definitely riding way more consistently, and only had one avoidable crash
    - Definitely improved throttle control

    Ha... nice bump.

    Here's my original post...

Street - I'd like to do a little touring & take a short trip somewhere on the bike. Maybe a three day weekend kinda thing.
I also wanna get Jenni out on her bike more & get her more confident on two wheels.

Track Days - Continue my progression as an instructor & help people w/ their riding.

Race - Bump to Expert & still be somewhat competative. Consistant 1:23's.
    And here's my update:

Street - Didn't get to do much touring & Jenni ended up having to sell her bike for personal/financial reasons... it's not that she doesn't like riding, it's just that things didn't work out w/ the GS and her wallet right now.

Track Days - Had a TON of fun and was able to help a LOT of people w/ their riding. 2008 was EXTREMELY rewarding in this department and I want to send a HUGE thank-you to my fellow TTD staff members, especially Ken and Tony for helping me become a better instructor and giving me the opportunity to teach.

Race - Didn't QUITE bump to Expert yet due to a bad opening 1/2 to the season, but I was able to ditch the EX for an SV and salvage the second half and wrap things up with a .509 index and a new Personal Best time of 1:22.3... So I'll be sporting the white & black number plates for '09

Bike is a mess, so much for not wanting to get my bike dirty. This is the only one I was close on though, I broke 1000 miles for the season...which is close to not much as predicted

    General.... Did I mention dirt?
I'm almost ashamed of myself I should be at 1500 dirt miles for the season, I think I may be close to 500 so far...and 400+ of those miles were during one week when I was on vacation in Maine.

Next year, I honestly don't see much of an improvement for more reasons than just having the time

    1. Found a few seconds 2.5 or so, bumped to AM the 3rd weekend, already starting to look toward Expert
    2. Not much street riding, though I put 3000 miles on a bike I bought in July
    3. Didnt bring the 636, but brought the KTM to 2 track days
    4. Went to VIR in March, had a fucking blast. Good times.

I failed at the riding more street stuff, and at not crashing... but i have met a lot more riders/racers who have become good friends, and the incident in june got me a lot more parts for my bike, so I feel those extras cancel it out.

Other than that, I'm pretty happy with the progress I made... certainly improved in all of those areas of my track goals. Ready to take the next big step in the spring
