are we expecting any updates? the R6 was just re-done last year, and i don't know when the R1 was updated last, but it might be getting one, particularly cuz of the infamous 2nd gear throttle-bog

I just see minor changes to the R1 since this gen is in its first year (04-06, now 07-09). Think the same would go for the R6...'08 will be the last year for the current gen, so next year will be the overhaul for it.

the 07 is just about the same motor as the 04-06 and while there are other changes for 07, to me it's more like refinements (or not) on the 04

hopefully they will come out with a new r1, but i doubt it.

at least they came out with a new sled with the 02/03 motor in 06!

the '07 R1 is whole new beast....yamaha changed the engine to 4-valve cyclinder engine instead of the 5-valve...and added a bunch of goodies (fly-by-wire, variable intake, slipper clutch)...check it out...midrange on them is much better than the previous gen...plus the '07 looks edger than the prev gen

i have checked it out and for me it's still the same over square engine.

the mid range is better than a stock 04-06 it's probably very close to my not stock 04. then again i dont usually ride the bike with the rpm's below 9k

to me fly-by-wire & variable intake are not goodies. and from what iv'e read the fly-by-wire sucks

the slipper clutch is supposed to be nice, but i have no problem using my fingers as a slipper clutch.

i want an upgrade, like going from the 02 to the 04 and i dont see that kind of upgrade in the 07

if the 1k gsxr wasn't so ugly, heavier this year and stuffed with another new over square engine i would had taken one for a ride at the dealer and more than likely have one in the garage.

with less and less places to ride the superbike it's hard to consider keeping the one i have let alone getting a new one.

as it is i only ride it in pa twice a year.

i'd rather pick up another sled that will go over 120mph and ride where there are no speed limits.

it's to bad yamaha didn't make a bunch of upgrades to the apex gt this year.

true the bottom end is the same, but I see with more time yamaha will pull more power out of the 4 valve set-up (not that we need it mind you).

honestly I like the fly-by-wire...I have a '06 R6 that has it, and while it feels twitchy at first its easy to get used to.

the variable intake I see as yamaha making a step in the right direction and addressing the mid-range issue that many ppl loved with the '03 and older R1s (I liked it, but dont necessarily miss it)

and the slipper clutch...well I dont see that being benefical until you ride the bike on the track

quite honestly I'm happy with my '04 and love riding it casually or at the local twisties..sure the zx10r or gsxr1000 are faster, but it just comes down to which one speaks to you and I'm proud to say I still get a big grin on my face when I swing my legs over my r1 or r6

You try to not let an R1 drop below 9000rpm on the street?

    Do you weight 600lbs?

I think that silver R6 scheme is sweet !

And the Yellow one with flames? Well dont know about
that... but its nothing that a hair dryer and and credit card can't fix !

But those 125s are freaking pretty. I'd like one as a city commuter bike!
