You can ride mine if you have the balls to ride a bike with a bad steering head bearing Just have to be easy on the wheelies because I still haven't gotten 100% or the air out of the rear brake. You just have to remember that they have come a LONG way since they made mine. Have you thought about a 4V monster?

I did check out the new monster and must say that I liked it a lot.
Very comfortable but hearing some of the things about maintenance
issues, even on brand new 1098's scares the bejesus outta me.
I don't want to have have doubt when going out to get on my bike
whether it will start or not.

I did check out the new monster and must say that I liked it a lot.
Very comfortable but hearing some of the things about maintenance
issues, even on brand new 1098's scares the bejesus outta me.
I don't want to have have doubt when going out to get on my bike
whether it will start or not.

The new ones are every 7,500 miles so they aren't as bad as mine. My bike starts every time and I haven't had any problems that weren't coyote induced. A friend of mine has a 1999 Monster and he hasn't had any problems either, besides some backfiring caused by pipes without getting the carb re-jetted.

Bill, the tri-colors are nice but I don't think they are worth the extra cash. They used to make them black with an orange stripe that looked pretty good.
