    2013 Honda 500 series and a "NEW" 600RR

I like how Honda approaches their 600 series, it keeps my 7 years old 600RR relevant....

    Enjoy!

    2013 Honda 500 series and a "NEW" 600RR

I do love 600rr redesign. The headlights and ram air reminds me of the new Camaro.

Do you mean the Ptwins class that is likely going away after 2013? (they announced it at the banquet, replacing it hopefully with a 250 class instead)

First thing that came to my mind when seeing the new 600rr front end was the pre 2006 generation R6. So Honda is finally catching up

Whoa, didn't realize it was getting slated for the axe. Given PTwins HAS entries, and the 250 class as of yet doesn't... what's the motivation?

I'm liking the looks of the 500F. I want to know 3 things first, though:

    1. Weight
    2. Power
    3. Cost

That 600 is a good-looking bike. But halogen headlights? Does it also use leaded gasoline?

haha that was my first reaction too. I thought bikes moved to projector lights in 2003 or thereabouts. I like the new design overall, but feel sad that Honda continues to lose its way both with bikes and cars. Talk about great engineers let down by muddled product developers and brand managers.

    Re: 2013 Honda 500 series and a "NEW" 600RR

Truthfully I did not pay all that much attention to the announcement pertaining to the Ptwins class going away and the 250 class spawning as I will not likely be involved in either if I make a return to racing in 2013-14. I will try to find some information about it as I was the one that brought it up.

    Re: 2013 Honda 500 series and a "NEW" 600RR

I guess I'm in the minority in thinking the new RR is one fugly-ass bike. As for leaded gas, we'd all be better off if we were still running it... but regardless, the halogen lights I would imagine offer equal or superior lighting at a fraction of the weight (and a simpler, more reliable design). Honda's engineering is on another level compared with just about every other manufacturer, I highly doubt they would take a step backwards in terms of function (cost reduction also comes to mind?), so just think that money saved bought more useful progress. Their styling however, has gone backwards. A company that used to make some of the most timeless designs has gone cartoon and it just doesn't suit my tastes.

The chariot awaits. The Euro Junior Cup will be racing the CBR500R in 2013.

Some article claims the NA version will have around 54hp, while the EU version will be 47hp due to license regulations.

That seems a bit heavy for its size. Price is nice, however.

    Re: 2013 Honda 500 series and a "NEW" 600RR

    From: http://www.fasterandfaster.net/

"The Honda CB500X shares its chassis, suspension and liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, DOHC parallel-twin with its CB500F and CBR500R cousins. With 47 horsepower and 43Nm of torque, and 195kg kerb weight, the CB500X is probably a mild-mannered machine, but one that’s refined and fuel-efficient, with Honda claiming 27km/l for the bike."
    1. 47 hp
    2. 430 lbs
    3. $4,500 (naked), $5,000 (faired), $?,??? (X)

It is interesting that the NC700X is said to have only 48 hp (DCT version - regular version something like 51?).

The announcement said that the 500 class will be replaced with a 250/300 class.
