Re: 2014 Honda Grom - First Look
I told a friend (doesn't ride yet, wants to take MSF this summer) about this last night, and he asked whether it'd make a good first bike.
The more I think about it, the less confident I am in my answer. Interested to hear what y'all think about that.

With an American that weighs about as much as the machine itself?

The GF likes it and if she gets through MSF next spring, this is what we are buying.

This thing has crazy potential.

Re: 2014 Honda Grom - First Look
There is one for sale at Archie's. it's way smaller than I thought it would be. It's like a kids bike.

We know. This is too new and nice for you. You must wait until 2028 to buy one.

Re: 2014 Honda Grom - First Look
Will the 250 model be called the Grommet?
I still prefer the Sachs Madass.

Either way, this thing has -full retard- written all over it. Do want.
Don't know if it was intentional, but "Grom" means Thunder in Russian... :dunno:

Yes, with an optional sidecar available under PN: HON-WALLACE-250

That would be a gromit. Not to be confused with a posure, a gromit is simply too young to have gained the necessary level of skill. Posures do not progress, gromits typically do.

Re: 2014 Honda Grom - First Look
I'll wait for some dude to buy it for his wife/gf, she rides it once and parks it...they eventually want it out of their garage and I'll lowball with cash
Motorcycles are good market to get deals because there's always a noob who determined motorcycles aren't for them, their family said 'it's too dangerous, or they need to liquidate their toys to go towards rent and other more fiscally responsible things

Re: 2014 Honda Grom - First Look
I still can't imagine this thing selling that well. The market seems incredibly limited. And for the price it is not hard to step up to a more highway capable.
-
Re: 2014 Honda Grom - First Look
I'm just throwing this out there; I've heard my friends say, "I left an angry grom in the toilet after drinking Schlitz all night." Has anyone else ever used grom as a dook?
If this bike has the same seat height as a Rebel 250, then there will be a ton of noobs buying it.

We have our first 5 incoming units presold... can't remember the last time we've had that much demand right off the bat.
Yes it will die down after the first year, but still initially they are selling very well.

Re: 2014 Honda Grom - First Look
Are you going to have any demo/showroom bikes so I can bring the GF down?

we won't likely have any available / demo units just sitting on the showroom until next summer.
we have our first one in the showroom right now, but it's paid for and the customer is coming in to pick it up at some point this week.... if you make it in soon you may be able to check it out.

Hey, maybe we can add this to the long list of things I've been wrong about.
But I still don't get it.
