It's STUPID fun, and yes it draws crowds. We used to make random tracks in a shop parking lot after hours and rip it up on stock 70s during the summer, people driving by would just stop and watch. Even had the police setup one night to watch.

Saw my first Grom Saturday at the Adirondack Nationals at Lake George. It's a lot smaller than I had envisioned. A 6' rider would make it look like a mini bike. It still looked like a complete blast though.

Yes and no. While the tires are cold, it's like riding on ice. Once your tires heat up they will grab quite well. We'd lay rubber down coming on to the outside sweeper at MIK. Unlike pavement once they start to push though they transition to full slides MUUUUUCH quicker. If the concrete is dusty, forget about it, you're screwed.

Or wet. My favorite go-cart track as a kid was asphalt with a few strategically placed concrete pads. Midway through the session some sprinklers would turn on and hose down the concrete. Wheeeee!

Still think the Madass 125 is cooler.

The MadAss may be a cool bike but lets see which bike has better dealer and aftermarket support to go along with the original purchase.......................I'm going to go with the Honda will win out in that regard. Break something on a Grom and go to one of a couple local Honda dealers and they'll either have the part or order it and have it in a couple of days. Break something on a MadAss and does anyone know where you can buy parts for it?

Just another consideration when purchasing toys that are meant to be fun, or cheap reliable transportation.

Oh, we can have fun with this....

Di Honda kill the Big Ruckus or is it still available? They seem to be refocusing on the entry market that put them on the map in the first place.

Re: 2014 Honda Grom - First Look

I got a chuckle from your edits to my response but you have to admit that the dealer support for the Ducati, Aprillia, MV Augusta exotics still is better than that for a MadAss. At a minimum you can find reputable dealers online that can have parts shipped to you pretty quickly for those exotics. I'm going out on a limb here and guessing that the MadAss isn't quite as well supported as any of these options.

As far as the Big Ruckus goes, don't know if it is still available. I would love to have one of them if it is. I see all the custom Ruckus(Ruckii) that are out there and it looks like so much fun to buy and trick out. Just what I need though another drain on my time and wallet.

Honestly. I have a Suzuki, one of the most common motorcycle brands in the country. And I'm have a helluva time sourcing fairly routine parts, even when I'm willing to pay the markup they want. I've had to resort to ordering them all off the 'net. Everyone local doesn't stock any of this anyway. Many have started charging me the shipping costs for them to have it shipped from their supplier. ... Where's my incentive to support these local dealers again?

Local brick 'n mortar dealer support is becoming less and less important. IMO.

So I pulled the restrictive 90 degree tube outta the Grom's air box tonight. Removed the backfire screen, and spun the intake snorkel forward. It revs noticably quicker, and wheelies easier now. People talk about this mod making it louder, but it sounds exactly the same to me.

I noticed there's a tube entering the air box that mixes in exhaust while the motor is running. Would there be any benefit to capping this off? could it do any harm? I'm guessing it's emissions related bs.

You sir have a shitty dealer. Mine is freaking awesome and gives everyone a discount who walks through the door.

Sounds like the EGR valve, pretty standard to cap it off.

I removed the grom's rear fender tonight. As it turns out, there is a steel frame built into the fender. It weighs about 5 lbs I would guess. This has me thinking that there are other places to shave major weight. No bike needs it more than one with under 10hp!

...that's what the "SPAM" flag button is for. It doesn't take too many before they get marked as a spammer and cant' get on.

    Reply from one of them.

I only put it up to see if anyone was willing to pay that much instead of waiting to get one. I wouldn't sell it anyway

How is that spam? It's gouging. It's taking advantage of a situation. But it isn't spam.
I don't think that is what the spam button is for.

It's hardly gouging. You don't need a Grom. You want a Grom.. big difference.
