SBK has a LOT of headroom for mods.

I thought you were referring to AMA Superbike/MotoAmerica... hence the surprise over those numbers for some basic mods. Now I'm just a little confused what you were referencing. I watch MotoGP and a little MA that's about where my knowledge ends!

Yeah, I really don't care much about the numbers game. It's kind of the equivalent in the computer world of people comparing MHz, it really doesn't mean much compared to real world performance, but it's a metric to geek out on. I've been following the development of this bike for a while so it's fun to think about and I do have high hopes for it putting Suzuki on the map again.

Not in CA, where it is now completely illegal to change the OEM exhaust after model year 2015 (I think).

I'll bet CA leads the way in why the US versions have such ridiculous exhaust cans.

I believe Maine has a regulation that OEM exhaust must be in place for inspection. I'm sure it's sound based, not emissions.

Yep, CA leads the emissions standards and EPA is following in step. Might see that changing pretty fast with Pruitt around...

Sort of - aftermarket exhaust is okay if it doesn't amplify the noise over that of the stock muffler. I'm not sure they pay super close attention to this as long as it doesn't exceed 95dB (and then, depends on who inspects the bike). I'll find out soon though...

I have absolutely no need or the skills whatsoever for all this power, but man does it make me drool. It doesn't just sound insanely fast, but looks like a really well-put-together bike. Can't wait to see these show up in the US so I can ogle in person.

I love everything about it except the pipe

We got some early parts to start working on things...bodywork, rearsets, covers, etc. I spent a while talking to John Ulrich about this bike, and he's pretty excited about it. Should make for some fun racing this year!
